Xeets, pronounced Zeets.

It's ok as long as it's not a public phone box.

Here's one, why has Whetherspoons removed the lovely burgers off their menu and replaced them with some cheap 'American' style rubbish?

Shamelessly nicked from El Reg: They are now called Xcretions.

Allegedly, the Chinese pronunciation of ' X ' in that context would be "Shi".......

The colour and vibrancy of most Carnivals are a spectacle to be enjoyed. So why are shopkeepers & homeowners along this weekends Notting Hill Carnival route desperately boarding up their premises?

OK. Time for the second part: Answers that need to be questioned.

SUVs. What was the bloody stupid question that prompted that answer? What's the best car-like vehicle that looks and handles like shit? Get an estate car, you know that's what you really want.

I'm not a fan of the SUV.

Someone is.

Ford have dropped the Fester because people only buy SUV's.

Volvo have dropped saloons and estate models in the UK, because people only buy SUV's.

I suppose it's equivalent in biking is the death of the sports bike and the rise of the ADV.

Is it because people are getting fat and lazy? An SUV is easier to get into than a lower car, and an ADV doesn't require as much knee bend as a sports bike.

I still prefer an estate car, but as the kids are getting bigger I'm going to have to get one of those VW people carrier things.

I buy a car based on, can I fit a cement mixer in it? That's my standard test. I can get it in the Golf with the seats down, it fits in the boot of the E class estate. I've only ever had the cement mixer in the car once, but still, it's the standard test.

Another question;

In a football match between, say, United and Rovers, United's goal is to put the ball in Rovers' goal and Rovers' goal is to put the ball in United's goal.

Is it just me or is there something weird about this? :?:

I puzzle over the algorithms that power the targeted marketing on my Chrome homepage.

I care not, nor have I ever enquired upon, which hand luggage is most suitable for short haul flights, yet these articles are thrust upon me. Ditto obscure news articles about the upcoming He-Man reboot movie. Why me? I didn't even know it was being rebooted, and would have railed against it anyway. It was shit in the 80's.

Same with my Kindle. I read a a lot of dry, military history or biographies of long-dead people most people have never heard of. Yet, when I power up the Kindle, it suggests a gushing love story of a heart-broken woman with dusty rugs who falls for a Hoover repairman with rippling biceps. Again, why? The Internet is supposed to be smart.

I fear for the future.

Similar to Gremmers, I buy something on-line, next thing is I'm bombarded with ads for.....the thing I've just bought. Well, duh.

Plus Amazon. Order something, it arrives...closely followed by a request to review it. It may still be in the packaging, it may be something that I won't know how good it is until I've used it for a while, it may be something so utterly mundane they'd have to work seriously hard to make a 'bad' one.

This is Mrs Ds field of expertise!

It's all very clever and she tells me a lot about it. Most of it I've forgotten or didn't understand and the rest is confidential

But yeah, them ads you see are the end result of a complex, rapid and opaque automatic bidding war which goes on every time you enter a website.

If you're seeing random ads for stuff you have no link to it's probably because you're either super anonymous or super boring. There's nothing in your "profile" to make it worth spending the money on targeting you ;)

I want to know why there are no longer any ravenous housewives in my area.

Real hunger is a thing of the past.
Maybe I should hang around the food bank, casually twiddling a baguette.🥖

Perhaps the internets knows you better than you know yourself. Somewhere back in the dusty recesses of your closet there is a wistful longing for a plumber to scoop you up in his manly arms and ravage you 😂
I'd prefer it if his manly arms would crack on and get the bloody en-suite finished for me.

After that he can ravish me any six ways to Bradford for all I care.

I'm fat and lazy but they aren't my only reasons for having a SUV. I've always favoured them as they feel more spacious and light and airy in the cabin space. Being tall, I hate cramped up little cars with restricted views. My mate had an Audi TT which I absolutely hated and felt claustrophobic in. I had to deliver one of those "Magnum" Ferraris once. Hideous cramped up thing and when we got to the services i swapped over for a Granada as it was much more comfortable!

SUVs are also popular with young families as they are easier to lean over your kids to put them in their car seats or put seat belt on etc, same as people carriers.

When I worked in the motor trade I could take pretty much any car home of an evening. I never took sports cars, always 4x4s, Prestige or convertibles if we had one and it was sunny.
