EDIT: December 2002 onwards models apparently, not sure what mine is - will see when it arrives.

I had one, bought it barnd new in 2001 it exploded in 2003 at 60k miles, melted both pistons on the way home from work one evening. The bike seemed to enjoy regular trips to the dealer to fix stuff with tools a home mechanic wouldn't have. The most expensive to own bike I've ever had, I vowed never to own another BMW. I used it for daily commuting, I would highly recommend a backup bike if this is your plan.
Standard they run very, very lean. I would recommend changing the fuel pressure regulator for one from the K1200. As mentioned, Twinmax is essential.
Looking at the pic it looks standard. I think the centre stand was an optional extra, so quite normal to find them without.

As an aside, it's the only bike I've ever hit the limiter in top on, and the BB chip gave it another 500rpm as well!

Stuttered to a stop after pulling a minger of a mono. Fixed it at the side of the road with the supplied toolkit (somehow the ECU plug had come loose, too many crack handed wheelies I suspect).
Only issues I ever had were the paralever bearings failing, and they were BMW only, so had to schtum up £36 a time!

They have good engine braking, if you're at all smooth in your riding style, then you will hardly need the brakes.

Well the tractor has arrived - very happy with the condition, better than the 10 years newer Triumph I've traded against it! Added bonus - it has a decat fitted, just need to open ECU and see what chip is fitted.
Bummer is I can't use it until the V5C arrives - I stupidly insured against the cherished plate I have on my bike but until the V5C arrives, I can't assign the plate. Twat......

Its the front edge of the mudguard you have to worry about, especially if 'someone' tries to move your bike
