Just to add a quick comment - yesterday we were in the outside lane of a 2 lane dual carriageway near Vannes (in the car), overtaking an artic and a bike squeezed between us & the armco. Seemed a bit dodgy to me.
Friend of mine used to quite often pass two artics in mid overtaking manoeuvre by riding up the middle between the two of them, he said to brighten up his commute - I tried it once it's quite exhilarating 🫣

I used to when I was despatching.

Then one day, the artic on the nearside moved right just as the artic on the offside moved left.

The two mirors got hooked in the tautliner straps. The only thing that saved me was that the lorry on the outside was going faster and unscrewed my right hand mirror.

Don't think either driver even noticed.

Last time I EVER did that.

IIRC Muzzy tried it once on his commute and somehow managed to get the strap on his rucksack caught up with the straps on the truck..... He was very, very lucky that the step on his rucksack snapped... (At least i think that's what happened, it was a while ago)

I've heard of a DR getting a bag strap caught on a truck's tie-down hook. The driver apparently thought it "serve you right" amusing, but eventually (and time probably felt very different depending on which of the two parties you were) helped him free.

I remember reading that. Bloody scary and put me off wearing rucksacks for a long time - even though I didn't tend to filter between lorries, I was a bit of a hooligan at filtering and figured it was better not to wear them than take the risk of forgetting it was there and getting caught!

It's illegal to filter here (although some places are trialling it!) and I rarely ride in places that will need that. Bit sad really cos I did used to like it! :D

I seem to remember that...
