Thursday my lad turns 12. With Forest of Dean being allowed now, we've booked him a day at https://www.katycurdcoaching.com/

For those who don't know her, she's an ex-British champion and from people on other forums is the best coach they've ever had or known. So my boy and his 2 jumpy mates are off for several hours and i'll be spending the day at the FoD playing while they're getting taught.

Really looking forward to seeing how it all goes.

a day like that will be great for the lad, i bet he will love it, he might want a few more though

You know me mate, i'm not shy when something is needed/wanted, if he loves it and it helps, he'll do more... It's even fairly likely i'll do the next one too.

Nice, let me know how that goes as I'm considering doing the same for me and boy #1 with Katy.

Looking at their website I’d be up for that too, dunno which course to pick or just start at the beginning ?

I have to say training is one of the best upgrades I've ever bought. I went to Jedi at UK Bike skills and he unpicked my bad cornering habits (mainly from riding big sports bikes) and my riding improved dramatically. I stopped crashing so much and when I do I've got the tools to analyse what I did wrong afterwards.

Biggest "mistake" was buying Mrs M a Jedi day. .

I've done Jedi twice, he's also done Jedi once. I wanted this one to be a bit more on different terrain, bit more on stuff that he's more likely to see out on the hills etc.

what date are you training with Katy? my mate is doing a jumps and drops course on the 18th and I think I'll be entertaining his Mrs while he's learning.

I've heard very very good things about her coaching and she is clearly a very talented rider.

another good coach in the fod is Wye MTB, I've done their fod flow course and am looking at booking in for the jumps & drops

The small boys were really impressed with the training and despite being a bit vague on feedback as they're small, they felt they got a lot from it.

Me and the lads will be booking her soon i think.

I've just booked a course up at Rivington Barn with a chap called Elliot Heap, mentalist.

Yup.

If I'm honest, that's far from Impressive for him, the others will have been better but not videoed

Don't get me wrong, it's awesome, but nothing more than I'd expect from him. He turned 12 a few weeks ago

Well he's been getting expensive recently !!

First was a day with Katy Curd, then another with her, then he's broken another brake lever, so i've had to sort out a plan.

PArt of it was crashing, partly down to SRAM. Basicall their piston in the MC swells in the heat, so i've sorted some new replacments which are aluminium and won't swell, but it also cost me £20 for circlip pliers that will fit.



NExt up, we were checking over his bike when doing his brakes earlier and a pivot bolt has been lost.

It’s the middle bolt of the 3 on the funny arm.

20.5mm in length.

M12 from what i can see here.

Not sure i'll get one from Specialized as they seem to sell full kits, so i jumped on here.

One of their rocker pivot bolts seems to be the right size and pitch. So i've ordered one, but it does mean the bike is out of action until that arrives. I'll try the Specialized Concept store in Newbury tomorrow as they may have one lying about, hopefully....
