Re: I've gone blind, kind of
It should be reasonably reassuring that you've been checked and told there isn't anything seriously wrong - retina, glaucoma etc. 1888's link to iritis is interesting, though. Have you asked them about that?
If definitely nothing serious, if it's any help you'll probably adapt pretty quickly to using one eye for a while. I had a CRVO back in 2005 (Google it) and had to do that.
If you doubt the competence of your optician/hospital, Moorfields has a really good A&E dept, if you can get there.

Realised I forgot to update this. About a week after my last post my eye was perfect and has been since What a relief. Still convinced it was the drops that caused it.

Glad it’s all sorted.
My wife experienced a detached retina a few weeks back. That’s not fun.

Re: I've gone blind, kind of
Hopefully it was repaired satisfactorily?
There aren't many things more frightening than fearing you might be losing your sight, I can tell you.
I had the dubious pleasure once of sitting in the inner waiting room at Moorfields where they do operations. I was only waiting for a check for a possible retinal tear - I didn't have one, in the end. But there was one guy with a detached retina who they described as originally 'mac on' and now 'mac off'. That meant the detachment included the macula area - not good news. The other memory from there is the fact that patients who were about to be operated on had a great big arrow pointing to the eye to be operated on, marked with felt pen or something. I suppose it's reassuring to know they're taking steps to do the correct eye, but it seemed a bit of a crude method.

Re: I've gone blind, kind of
I am awaiting an appt for further investigations into why there is a dark patch in the back of my eye. Could just be nothing, I have to phone them to chase it up and it was supposed to have been July when they contacted me. Glaucoma in my gene, mother and grandfather... being deaf and blind, hmmm, that will be a bit too exciting I think.

My short term sight issues scared the hell out of me. I take my good eyesight for granted but when it goes on the wonk it really is debilitating. I hope your Mrs gets it sorted

They did that before my neck op. Last time I counted, I still only had the one neck ...Scootabout wrote: ↑Mon Sep 28, 2020 10:48 pmThe other memory from there is the fact that patients who were about to be operated on had a great big arrow pointing to the eye to be operated on, marked with felt pen or something. Her retina has gone again. Back today for surgery. The more surgery you have, the less chance of success ( due to scarring).
