Re: Emtb ???
My 2p
I'm debating this with myself at the moment.
Full power + heavy or mid power + lighter or longer travel + even heavier
What kind of riding will you be doing? Whats your local terrain? Will there be days when you want to go large?
Where's the nearest dealer/bike shop?
Realistically the Powerfly should suit me based on my local terrain, however I'd like to go further afield on mine, FOD / Peak Districk / Wales so I'm looking at Rails or Whytes.
I'm looking to hire / cadge a go on different bikes for extended rides to see which click best.

Re: Emtb ???
Trek's come up small. @Couchy started out on a large Rail and I kept banging on at him that it was too small and was causing him problems with handling and comfort so he bought an XL to try out, with a view to selling whichever one didn't fit, and he's now riding the XL and sold the large.
I'm a smidge over 6' tall with long legs and I really need an XXL for a Trek, I had a Powerfly as my first emtb and it was, in retrospect, a bit too small at XL.

Re: Emtb ???
My advice, if you are looking to do anything On your emtb like "proper" mountain biking (Peak District, Wales etc.) get the biggest, burliest, longest travel, full power emtb you can lay your hands on.
At any other time when having too much suspension or it being too much bike, just stick it in turbo and revel in the power.
I ride one of biggest, burliest emtb's you can get: 200mm triple crown forks up front, 170mm on the back, widest bars you can get, widest nobbliest tyres known to man etc. and I'm fat and unfit.
On Saturday I was spinning along on the road following @Couchy at a deristricted 22 mph.
22mph, without even blowing hard.
