I think we're on the same page.DefTrap wrote: ↑Thu Apr 06, 2023 10:39 am Black or Black. If in doubt Black. If it's not Black just let it get dirty.
In real life I wouldn't go out wearing a yellow blazer, unless it was necessary to prevent me being run down. I don't need to shout how fun I am with my needy outfits like Lenny Henry or Graham Norton. I had a TL-S in BRG once, and a Monster in Silver. Cooo-eee!
It does seem peculiar to bikes, you see so so few lairy paintjobs on cars, it must be a tiny tiny percentage. Maybe us bikers are just dickheads?
I'm on my 9th black car on the trot. Actually, tell a lie, one was dark grey. Was a bit bright but think I got away with it
My first two bikes were whatever I could afford, but then all black since then until my current SDGT, which was the least-orange variant. In other words, orange. Plus some dark grey for shits 'n' gigs.

Re: Bike colours
I quite like KTM orange and had a few I think the colours suit the bikes. Don't think my Duke was particularly lairy colour wise
I know a lot of the sales will be dirt bikes and small cc bikes in India etc, but whilst a bit niche on road KTM sold more than Ducati and Triumph added together and then doubled and they still didn't sell as many as KTM. Read the other day they sold 375k bikes in 2022, Ducati was 60k odd and Triumph 80k odd.

Re: Bike colours
In fairness, that's the least orange KTM I've seen I think.
The year after mine they made the 'less orange' version a bit more like that with more black, but wasn't an option for my model year.

Re: Bike colours
Once you go black, you never go back, or so the wife says anyway.
My last x amount of bikes have been black except for the Ducati, I don’t mind the other usual colours that you get with bikes, years ago I had a few Kawasaki’s and had them in green, not overly fussed tbh. I think it usually boiled down to the deal at the time, buying brand new is a different matter I suppose, I went with black purely as you don’t stand out like a donkeys dick when you’re acting the fanny on the roads.

Re: Bike colours
My boss (a company director of his own business, late 50s and bald and very fat, always suited) turned up outside the offices in his new car.
A spizzed-up Subura Impreza sorta thing in electric sparkly blue with the big old rally mudflaps. Eyebrows were raised!
He soon reverted to type - big ol' jags. I imagine he had trouble getting in and out of the Subaru anyway.

Re: Bike colours
Do KTM not make a black option? I know I've seen ADV models predominantly black.

Re: Bike colours
I may be wrong but I think the 790 / 890 Duke is the only one that's been available without any orange at all - ie. plastics / frame / wheels?

"the belief that a bee, when it is done feeding, will take the shortest path back to its hive without delay or meandering."
Origin of 'going pear shaped" is interesting - one suggestion is pilots attempting to fly a loop.

Re: Bike colours
Varies model to model and year to year, but often it's just degrees of orange.
These are the current two options for the SuperDuke R/Evo.

Re: Bike colours
I've heard loads of times that Blue/Orange is some sort of power combination, something to do with "opposite" colours and Marvel superheroes.
Just looks gash IMO
'cept maybe on an old race car.

Re: Bike colours
Orange and blue do go together well as on the colour wheel they are opposite each other, and thus complimentary. However, just because they are complimentary, doesn't mean they always look good. The superduke R colour is more of blue-green colour, and is trying to compete too much with the orange.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Thu Apr 06, 2023 12:28 pm I've heard loads of times that Blue/Orange is some sort of power combination, something to do with "opposite" colours and Marvel superheroes.

This is an example of how orange and blue go together well
My KTM has a lot of darkish grey, with a slight blueness to it, which offsets the orange, and compliments it (in my eyes). Of course, if you don't like orange, it'll look gash to you, but it's not orange everything.
Also, just because colours are complimentary, it doesn't mean that combination will work on an object. Take green and purple, both complimentary colours, but look hideous together on this ZXR
It's also why Kawasaki's bikes look horid - there's too much green on them.
