Re: 2nd hand bike condition
There is a local one to me opened last year called Superbike Warehouse. Last year their stock level consisted of a few overpriced 5-10 year old high mileage sports bikes which were all fairly poor condition. I went in a few weeks ago out of curiosity and the place is now rammed to the extent they have moved out lots of their clothing and helmets to make room for rows of bikes. As well as lots and lots of the brand new chinese/korean/pretend british little bikes they now have some half decent quality second hand bikes as well as the other shitters.
I didnt have a close look at many as it was a quiet day and i could feel some of the many bored staff hovering while others were in full on chat to each other mode

Re: 2nd hand bike condition
I've bought 2 bikes from them. If you go and look at a bike on their site, you'll see pictures of any/all the marks on the bike along with a ruler to measure them with, and photos of the service book if it has one. On my MT09 they didn't mention things it had like steering damper and OEM yamaha heated grips and USB port?
Once you commit to the bike by paying a £99 deposit, you then have a link sent to you for the "Customer Garage" where you have a financial statement and get updates and messages. You also have to view all the pictures and sign at truth statement to see you've viewed each one.
Then you pay the balance and then you'll get updates such as, its having its PDI etc. It seems they are valeted prior to delivery? Then you'll get a call from the handover dept to arrange delivery. Its all very faceless and corporate with a few cheery messages but that's it.

Re: 2nd hand bike condition
I thought that people were incentivised to look after bikes bought on PCP in order to guarantee the final value. I've never taken one out so it's just an assumption on my part.

S'what I thought too? Sure I read somewhere the vehicle was subjected to a valuation based on condition and adhering to agreed mileage cap etc?

I think condition comes down to wear&tear and that doesn't cover little things like fixing/fastenings etc.. That's just class as acceptable. So people ride them, throw a soapy bucket at them once a month and just leave it.

I'd have to wash it once a month!? I'm not sure I could adhere to such a demanding schedule

They definitely weren't all bad, some were very good. It was just the bulk were gash.

Re: 2nd hand bike condition
Funny part was I actually put my wallet and mobile in the top box for safe keeping as it was a 350 mile ride in torrential rain and wind all the way. Fortunately once all the crashing had finished some nice people in the cars behind that stopped found all my possessions across the dual carriageway and recovered them for me including the wallet and phone
