Tbh, I thought electric motors just spin up faster and faster. Never heard any type of rev change or owt.

Never been very fast in one though. 🤷‍♂️

AFAIK it's only a couple of EVs that have more than one gear...certain versions of the Porsche Taycan springs to mind.

It's gonna dissappear again as motors get better. As above we started with 2 gears then went back to fixed transmission when we got a few thousand more rpm out of the motor.

I heard BSA are looking to use a simple transmission on their EV. Not seen anything yet though.

It'll be like AMT option on cars with auto boxes. Great for the first 20 miles then you can't be arsed and leave it in Drive.

The Horwin CR6 PRO has a leccie motor mated to a five speed gearbox.
