I reckon the kitchen may have saved you there matey- I rented one pretty much exactly like that (except it was blue) for 2 weeks In the US at the end of 2019 when my eldest boy came out of the army - he's a big American footie fan and we spent two weeks driving around the west coast states going to football and basketball games (and Laguna Seca ) and getting shitfaced etc- I reckon the car was probably only a few months old (it had under 5k miles on it when we picked it up), but it was a massive disappointment- the build quality was shocking with numerous rattles and bits that looked like they were either falling off or had just never really fitted right, and it felt so agricultural and unresponsive to drive.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Sat Feb 10, 2024 5:04 pm I jokingly sent my wife this link (she wants to swap the SL for something a bit newer)...

She's decided she wants one. In fact she liked it so much she said if we hadn't just bought a kitchen, she'd have driven over and bought it tomorrow.
And on the mountain passes we kept having to stop and let it cool down as the gearbox would go into limp mode after any form of spirited driving.
Looked and sounded dead cool, and I'd seriously thought about buying one at home before that trip, but have absolutely no desire to now.
Maybe we got a lemon, but I think it's more likely we didn't and they just really aren't that good compared to their German and Japanese peers.
Based on admittedly a small sample size, they get a big from me
