If the weld a but on trick doesn't work: You can buy threaded collets that tighten down on the thread of the bolt doodad over 1/2-3/4in of the length, Other end is hex so ya just ratchet the bugger out.

No sure who makes them these days, last ones I saw were Snappy.

Found the buggers. I can't get Amazon links to post on here so use google-fu to look for "OTC 6982PMC Professional Mechanics Collet Set for Removing Frozen or Corroded Studs and Broken Bolts"

Gonna throw it at my local spanner monkey. I'm not saying i'm ham-fisted, but I could cross-thread a nail.

My Tiger had a new swing arm put in when I bought it. The dealer fucked it up on the pre delivery inspection and swapped it out. it oly has 15k on it and was 3-4 years old then.

That's not really of any help is it? :)

Seconded. These things are miracle workers. Not dear either. You can borrow mine, but I'm not sure what ****-of-plenty they are in?

And so the saga continued....

Local oily garage I use threw in the towel after struggling yesterday for a couple of hours. Out came the swing arm which I took to a little engineering one man band who had to drill it out and fit a new helical.
Picked it back up this morning, bike now being put back together as I console myself with a cappuccino and toasted panino in a local Italian deli.

I should also point out the I've called in sick the last two days as I feel like death warmed up.

All in all, a total fuck-knuckle of a couple of days, for the sake of a tuppenny bloody bolt.

On the basis this thread, I went and anti seized the adjusters on my Scrambler.
They were fine.

So it's not all bad news.

And my panino had Calebrese sausage and onion in it, so the days ends well for all.

Of the panino? Oh, yes. Beautifully toasted on both sides. ;)

Oh, the swing arm! Left side I managed to eek out without the drama of the right. Both bolts and nuts have been replaced, though, and liberally greased.

Chain lube/gunk probably saved the other side. I'd get a load of grease in there and plug the offending holes.

Don't tell Mrs. G, but I threw a bucket of water over it when I got home today and sent some photos to Carl Rosner for a trade-in price on a 21 plate Rally Pro they have in, in that nice matt green with an Arrow end can.

Shhhhh. :shhh:
