My son and his girlfriend took their old Transit camper into the ULEZ zone last year, thought they’d paid the charge.
Turns out the payment didn’t show.
Camper is Austrian registered in the gfs dad’s name, who has been receiving letters out there, the latest of which has fees ramped up to £3k
Needless to say he’s a little miffed at my firstborn.

Re: Car park fine and debt recovery agents?
I read that it happened to someone and they only found out when they tried to rent a place iirc. The Citizens Advice say:Mussels wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 2:43 pmHow does it affect credit rating, CCJ?Count Steer wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 2:34 pm Problem with ignoring them is if they put a serious dent in your credit rating. (Should you ever need credit, to rent a property or a loan).
It’s a good idea to look into appealing your parking ticket if it was given to you within the last 28 days. If you received your ticket more than 28 days ago you probably won’t be able to appeal – but don’t ignore the ticket.
You should pay your parking ticket, if you can. If you don’t pay:
the cost could go up as you might have to pay court costs – and PCNs are increased by 50% if you don’t pay in time
your credit rating could be affected
the court could send bailiffs to take your belongings
How it happened without them being aware of it is anyone's guess, unless they'd changed address. I assume there must have been a CCJ.

That quote above is for a Parking Ticket, ie an official Local Govt fine. A Penalty Notice from a private company is different.
To seriously bend your credit rating you need a CCJ or an unpaid fine. Real Parking Tickets, aka Penalty Charge Notices cannot just be ignored, sometimes private Penalty Notices can, particularly if they have been dished out in what is an obviously unfair manner.

The Popla act 2012 allows the theiving bastards to go after the registerd keeper if they can't identify the driver. So they resort to ghost ticketing by putting a ticket on the car taking a photo then remove the ticket. A month later they send the registered keeper a letter telling them it is now £100. Happened to me as someone seen them ticket my bike and told me. I told them my brother was the rider he lives in NI where they have no jurisdiction he sent them their letter back with a picture of a bull having a shit in an envelope with no stamp so they had to pay a quid to get it

I did that here once.. then discovered they add the fine to the vehicle registration so you end up having to pay it when you renew the tags. The fuckers.
