Or the MT-03... both of them.
Motorbikes, Sportsbikes, Adventure bike, Supermotos, banter, chat, friends and whatever else you can imagine. KTM, Ducati, Aprilia, Suzuki, Yamaha, BMW, Moto Guzzi, Laverda

Errrrr - cos I haven't heard of that one!! LOL
Those boys watching were taking a chance....Supermofo wrote: Mon Nov 14, 2022 6:57 pm Yeah not much similar between the 09 and 10. Pretty much totally different bikes from engine to frame. The 10 engine with a pipe sounds glorious, like a Moto GP bike
I wondered if it was me, but he didn't sound smooth/100% committed!!The Spin Doctor wrote: Mon Nov 14, 2022 8:42 pm Not sure I'd be standing on the outside of that corner with all that on-off-on again throttle control.
Especially the way that was being ridden. Smooth it ain't!
Which is which?!! LOL I 'think' fun is more important. But I know that I'd have to ride anything I look to buy - as much due to physical issues as to what bike is best for other stuffScuffmark wrote: Mon Nov 14, 2022 10:22 pm I own an MT09 and 10 .. It's a tough call as to which is the best and I think alot depends on the roads its being used on or even the mood you're in.
Ideally you need to get a long test ride on both on the roads you use often.
An illegal pipe has one advantage when I'm training... it's dead-easy to analyse throttle control issues. I was even able to play a bit of video back to a trainee who was most indignant when I mentioned he was continually shutting off mid-corner and suggested he tried slowing down a bit more on the approach in order to smooth out his throttle use through the turn - the change of note in the racket was unmistakeableNoggin wrote: Mon Nov 14, 2022 8:43 pm I wondered if it was me, but he didn't sound smooth/100% committed!!Or was he doing it to make more noise somehow?
MT-10 was the only thing that floated my boat, but I knew it would be too much for me and my needs. When I saw a 2nd gen MT-09 I saw it as a sort of mini mt-10 and took a chance on it and I fooking love it!Noggin wrote: Tue Nov 15, 2022 8:30 amWhich is which?!! LOL I 'think' fun is more important. (this is basically a pie in the sky convo - but the MT10 is the only thing I've fancied for ages!!)
The MT10 is the exciting one .. Its all that powerNoggin wrote: Tue Nov 15, 2022 8:30 amWhich is which?!! LOL I 'think' fun is more important. Thing for me is that I'm mainly ridden litre bikes or 1100. So the power doesn't really make a difference to meScuffmark wrote: Tue Nov 15, 2022 10:10 pmThe MT10 is the exciting one .. It's the power that makes it a little bit of a pain at times too . Holding 30mph isn't its strong point and it's near impossible to use 80% of the bikes throttle on the road so it makes the bike feel wasted in some ways.
The MT09 has more real world useable performance and feels more rewarding to ride because of it... its suspension is its negative point.
If I was to buy again. ....Although ive not ridden one, I think I'd go for an MT09 SP over the 10
No I rode a Gen 2 I think it was a 2019 bike. Can't say if it was just the one I rode or all of them though. Weeksy's XSR was very good but fettled. The Tracer 9 I rode, also a Gen 2, was fine handling wise. So it could have been the MT I rode, but equally I've read tests saying until the latest bikes they handle a bit funny. I just know that in comparison to the one I rode the GSXS just felt a lot more 'together' as a package if that makes sense.tricol wrote: Wed Nov 16, 2022 3:39 pm Are you comparing the latest MT09 @Supermofo ? I know the latest generation has address some of the negative things about it, especially the geometry and suspension. The older bike seemed to have some weird handling traits when it was pushed, according to most reviews.
