Earlystocks (used to be pretty cheap, but I guess some of the bikes now are getting collectable).
If I were to start racing again, I'd probably go for the Blandits. It's a shame they're allowed to use warmers tho' as it would mean lugging a genny around.
I did a whole season of Desmo Due on a single pair of tyres, but then I didn't do any test days (an additional expense), A fellow competitor used to put a new pair on every meeting.
The biggest expense DD racing was the food and booze on a Saturday night
