I wouldn't buy a high mileage bike, but then my idea of high mileage isn't 30k.
*Everything* is a wear item when you get to actually high miles. A mate just bought an xt660r with some 90k km on it, and he's having all sorts of issues, for example the latest one is the water hoses have gone bad and a steel part of the cooling system has rusted to a pin hole from the inside.
Never know what's going to be next. Might be fine forever more, or maybe just something mundane like fork seals, but maybe they fail again because the chrome is wearing through, bushes have no teflon left, etc.
Maybe it's brake seals but they failed because of corrosion and can't be rebuilt anymore. Maybe the gear pedal bushings have so much slop you can't find neutral, and the hole is worn oval so the pedal is no good.
It's just not fun, and will certainly be a deeper money pit than just buying a better/younger bike.
