Honda CB500F. Absolutely amazing practical beast, on paper it is totally outclased, but today it kept up with a BMW1250 GS and a KTM 1290. On a track they would destroy it, but on the real road .........
Happy trails CJ.

(Not totally convinced that a CB500F couldn't hold its own against a BMW GS tbh. :D ).
You should do a track day with a load of CB500 riders.

On paper the CB is toast. 0.25ft lb/kg vs 0.35. (Nice mix of units :D ) and (I didn't realise that the CB was restricted to 112 mph) lower top speed. In the end though, I guess it's all down to who is sitting on what, but they could both be fun on the right circuit.

Day 4, and I am now in a ski resort near Zell am Zee. Yesterday started pretty, with a bit of the B500 from Baden-Baden, then a long hot ride across Germany on the autobhan, and then another 50 miles of Alpine valleys that I was too hot and tired to appreciate.
Today is a day off, and I have not moved the bike. I have been up an Alp in a gondola, and drunk beer at the top whilst admiring the view.
Tomorrow is over the Grossglockner, then into Italy via the Plockenpass and sp to Slovenia.
I am busy collecting pics, and will now make a determined effort to get some of them up tonight.

I am having limited success with photos. I think I jave uploaded a good few to Flkr, and created an album called Old Codger on Tour, but only 1 photo has gone into it. All the rest are on the site, and are public, so I think they should be visible to you all.

Anyway, having spent far too long arguing with Barclays about something I am in need of beer. If it doesnt work I will try again after applying some lubrication to my nrain cells.

If you just share the album web address to this thread then we can click on it and see them - saves trying to get the photos into the thread messages.

there should be a 'share' button on the album page somewhere to make this easier

Day off the bike today, my arse was gratefull. Long walk around Pitvice Lakes. Riding has been awesome, over the Grossglokner, over the Plockenpass into Italy,, some incredible mountain roads in Croatia. The little Honda has kept up with 1250 BMWs like a good un.

She really has left it in a mess! Apart from pictures, I cannot pay for really important stuff like beer by card. Fortunately I have a cunning plan, old fashioned money still works in some places

Sarajavo today, and walking again. Ride to here yesterday was wet (as in full rain gear and still soggy). Bloke in front of me had an off, slid gracefully on his arse with the bike rotating away on its side. Thankfully no major damage to either, but it could have been a mess. Local roads are very slippery wet or dry. Pics stil on hold, my fingers and tiny phone screens do not work well together.

Total tourist trap. Masses of coaches, walk to bridge rammed with people, and lined with tat shops. Bridge is ok , but somehow much less impressive than photos.

What is this patience thing you speak off? Do you know what age I am? I have no time to be patient. :P

Fcuk me I'm knackered. Dubrovnik to Zador, fantastic scenery but tiring to ride. I must be getting old.

Tonight's hotel is a refugee from the Soviet era, think Butlins on steroids with a Russian flavour.

Sounds quite an exhausting itinerary CJ. You'll need a holiday when you finish.
