BEEN OUT ON IY TODAY! it goes really well and handles ok too (gas rear shocks) bit of white lining but mothing too scary, I need to lower the foot brake lever a bit its too high, apart from that all good sounds awesome! i will be getting a Rh to lefte hand gear change kit for it When we were 17 swapping betwwen brit bike and Jap ones was an everday thing trouble now is muscle memory of jap bike had taken hold and reflex responses are not what they should be on this!. fine while all's well and steady but anything out of the ordinary look out!

Love it.

Is black the standard frame/wheel colour, looks a bit 'modern' if you get me?

I think the original scheme was silver paint frame tank etc and wheels. in the flesh its not too modern, would quite like to put a mirage seat on it, the electronic ignition works well and the front brembos are great the foot brake is a bit Meh, Tyres are kind of period and have little profile but it will lean, a lot like falling off a ladder.

So whats the plan?

Doesn't look like it needs much restoration?

Full concours show winner?

I reckon in orange it looks like it's trying too hard to be a Jota. seeing pics of Silver ones on tinternets, I reckon Silver is a good plan.

Don't recall silver Jotas but I remember 120 Jotas as orange with silver frames. A mate had an early 180 Jota which was red. Pretty sure the orange livery came in with the 120s.

I am only 53 though so what do I know. I was still is short trousers back then.

The last Laverda I came across was some years ago at the side of the road just outside Oughterard (N59 Galway to Clifden).

The sprocket carrier bearing in the rear hub had collapsed. The chap was rather sanguine about it really, he was just waiting for the recovery van to turn up. I hope that at least I was able to give him a more accurate idea of his location.

Lovely bikes though.

Lovely bike. I've always loved Italian bikes, having been a past owner of two Ducatis, ( Darmah, early 900 Monster, and a Moto Guzzi 1000 Convert. Although not at the same time ).
A late friend once owned a Jota, which I had a go on, and it was bloody lovely, but I did find it felt top-heavy in comparison to many other bikes that I've owned/ridden, especially when making slow-ish turns. Don't know how the Mirage compares on that score.
But hey, congrats on your Italian beauty.

Mate had a very green Mirage when I had my first Le Mans, a and a former girlfriends big sisters boyfriend had a silver Jotayou could hear coming from miles away. I think they also tried to up the touring potential of the Mirage by sticking a big bikini fairing on the later ones.
