That was him.
Tall stories from shit'oles in the back of beyond - something like that.
I know him quite well. Well, I used to. He was the real crack-smoking deal. Now half his former weight (and presence), teetotal and doing the family man thing. He still does a fabulous line in highly articulate and incisive left wing political comment. A better man than I.

This time next week I'll be packing my budgie smugglers into the smaller right hand (exhaust) side pannier
Quite excited. The last bike trip was to Slovenia a good 7 years ago on the Mighty 'Dero.

Just booked the chunnel... £146 return.
Which cost £11 on the card and £45 of Tesco vouchers.
If anyone else is thinking of using clubcard points, always swap the exact value of the tickets or lower, if you exchange more it will increase the price of the booking to match, they don't give change.

Submitted my proof of inoculation on the Eurotunnel webshite.
Dragged my old RST vented jacket out of the loft.
Packed my pannier, her in doors did hers ages ago.
Set the tyre pressures on the GS (2.5 bar front 2.9 rear)
Breakdown with QDOS for £25, got great reviews and highly defacto rated, not the cheapest, but a good chunk cheaper than the big boys.
I've polished my helmet (after fitting my new intercom).
Dropped an SD card with a 10 hour playlist onto the phone for some tunes.
All I've got to do now is clean the house top to bottom so we don't look like scruffs to the cat sitter (who is a scruff). Or face the wrath of HID.

Make sure you have all your documents nice and safe instead of being the twat who turned up at the French border for a 2 and a half week tour involving 14 border crossings only to realise he had his wifes passport in the document folder instead of his own
Enjoy the trip

Got an A4 plastic folder with everything printed out and the V5.
It's pretty easy to spot the wife's passport, it's dark blue

I've checked my old EHIC, it's still valid to 2024 and the NHS site says it's still good and I don't need one of the new GHICs.
I don't need a green card from the insurance because we're now all in the GCFCA.
I must remember to pack the hi-viz's.
I suppose I should apply for a critair sticker if we're going anywhere near cities, it won't come in time, but the website says a copy of the invoice will be fine.
The wife can sort the travel insurance, but does anyone have any recommendations for single trip Euro breakdown cover?
You need a crit-air for a bike?? I have to admit when I got mine for the camper I didn't look at bikes specifically, but that's a bit of a surprise.
I always used to use the Post Office for travel insurance because they specifically allowed for riding 'big' motorcycles (the vast majority specifically don't).
Hope you have an excellent trip!
I can't comment on locations as I know nothing about the east side of France.

I've been awarded a crit air 2 rating, took two days and less than 4 quid.
The sticker hasn't arrived yet, but there's a picture of it on the invoice which they say will keep the po po happy.

Always a great read.
I read it again last year and realised I’d missed bits -actually quite a good writer when all said and done .

Well thats me laying in my underpants on an Ibis bed in Annecy.
It got a bit warm. The forecast said 24-27c, the bike reckoned it was 34.5c.
I'm a bit sweaty and her indoors has blagged first shower.
Let google Maps get me here on the no tolls option, been down some right goat tracks up the side of mountains, all good fun.

I 'liked' that but really there isn't a 'smite' button big enough ...
