If the mileage is stored on the ECU rather than the dash, and the dashes aren't VIN locked pick up a 2nd hand jobbie.

The dashes are locked and it's stored, but both can be sorted by a dealer.... Sadly, not an at home job.

I'd expect all modern bikes are like that now due to immobilisers and IMU/ECU stuff.

:Wanders off to check something:

Ah, yep, I got the wrong end of the stick, I can install a new OEM speedo without dealer intervention, but it locks to the bike after 50 miles ruling out the second hand market, although I wonder if my tuner could get around that..

I would be looking at a cheap OBD ran dash until it comes time to sell the bike on. That is presumably it does not go into some sort of limp mode with the buggered one disconnected.

Because one bike that was poorly looked after before Jody bought it and has 25,000 miles on it had a problem somewhere?

+ I left it out in a horrendous thunderstorm the night before the dash started this.

When I say it was horrendous, even though I was using an external bluetooth speaker on my laptop. I still struggled to hear it over the noise of the rain on my mobile home roof !

Hi Jody,

Just did a quick search on Ali Express and turned up this:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004 ... nEjdcmWwtt

KTM Duke 690 (R) 2016-2019 LCD display screen - for £77.51 - almost exactly one tenth the price of the KTM part...
