TripleRS update and what brake discs?

I wore out a set of (no name) car discs in less than 10k of pretty normal driving. OK I did a fair bit of hard braking buzzing across the roundabouts of MK twice a day, but hardly racing. The set on there at the moment have done more than 30k though. As far as I can recall I've never worn out a set of bike discs but I don't do the miles which would show it up.

The one major thing to know about the rate at which things wear out....its a fucking random number generator! Seemingly inconsequential differences in material combination can make a huge difference to wear rate.

I replaced the discs on my first Street Triple (2009) but can't remember the mileage - one of them had warped. I did 64k in 4 years on that one and I've said it before and I'll say it again - I didn't have a single issue with it......... oh yeah I did the R&R was replaced under warranty. But that was it

Discs can be worn out and the owner doesn't know unless there's a resulting problem such as warping. I don't know many who regularly checks disc thickness using a micrometer,so they make seem fine visually,yet be undersize. I changed the front discs on my 10R at 30k miles for that reason,they worked fine,but were worn undersize.

my tiger's front sprocket has come loose a couple of times but only as far as the locking tab washer doing its job, since I replaced the nut it hasn't done it again. I've also just replaced the disks for the second time (62k miles) and put brembo's on it, the last set of EBCs were noticeably shitter than the OEM brembos.

if you search this forum you'll find my thread where i asked the same question on disks, someone recommended a supplier that was significantly cheaper than anywhere else

Same here. When I replaced the front discs on my Monster 1100 Evo, it was £480 for a pair of OE Brembos from Ducati or £285 for a pair of Serie Oro from Simon at WSC Performance.

He didn't have mine in stock but ordered them in and matched CarpiMoto's price and I had them within a week with free delivery.

I think all Tiger 800s have the same fronts (78B40847) at about £340 for the pair but there are a couple of different fitments for the rear so you'll need to check that. Price will be around £80.

Don't forget to budget for new pads too.
