Well that surprised me. The boy burped his front today and lost all air! I drove over with my front wheel to get him riding again, brought his home and opened it.

Nothing. Not a drop of sealant in there. Seller told me it had sealant last week lol. Clearly not.

The boy ain't keen on my DHR though that's for sure. Barely rode it and didn't enjoy it, lost the front.

Well the bumpkin let us down yesterday.

Went to test it and within 30m the brakes were not letting the wheels turn. Suspicions are/were the SRAM master cylinder piston issue, but thoughts are that the CODE Rs are not generally affected by the heat in the same way as others. Hmmmm maybe. They work sweetly now it's less hot.. but still it's a problem i can't be arsed with, so i've ordered a set of SLXs to go on from Merlin Cycles and the Code Rs are coming off.

You sure it isn't just a few cc too much fluid in the MC?

I've drained both front and back and put completely new fresh fluid in both, we'll see if that resolves it.

Suggestion: back the calliper pistons off a bit more which may mean a bit less fluid in the m/c.

Whilst that resolves the issue, it may not necessarily resolve the overall reasons. But I may have a solution to that anyway

Bit of a change on the mullet... it's been in/out/in/out/sold/swapped but somehow is still here.

In my book it should be staying long terms so he can have a non-DH bike as well as the race toy. You don't see the Pros on their DH every day every ride, so in order to give the boy some more chances on it, i fitted a different shock, i took the one that was the spare from the Trek and chucked it in for testing... It was a little better for him, but it was only i think about a 140 travel on the 160 frame he'd end up with. So whilst it was OK for a test, it wasn't really an answer as such longer term.

So this is incoming, along with a spring for the lad and a spring for myself. We both love the coils and on the G170 the Bomber CR was great... so why not give it a go on the Status... I'll report back

Having a play with the dpx2 and took it apart to shoehorn a volume spacer in there, only to find it already has the biggest one that Fox allow in this stroke.

So I'm going to set the pressure in it to my weight and see how it goes. The shock is a 5 min swap between the dpx2 and the Bomber coil for him.

I think I'll run the Status myself at bpw in 2 weeks

He's as bad as me. He prefers the air shock. So listed for sale

Did he actually ride it on a trial though? Coils can feel very soft, but once you ride them in anger they feel a lot better. I discovered this on my Reign when I fitted a CC DB Coil. The carpark test didn't feel great, but actual riding was night and day. Granted, it was replaced a fairly basic Monarch.

It's a very good point and if it doesn't sell soon then it'll potentially see it's way back on for more testing. I guess the problem is that it'll always be 2nd best anyway to the GT so hard to gauge
