Thanks, I understand that bar end mirrors are a bit marmite, but honestly they work really well, a much better view than standard ones.
The extra width doesn’t bother me as I don’t do much filtering, not much call for it along the lanes of the Cotswolds.

They need to be under the bars for extra hipster points!

I like it, street scramblers are cool as cucumber ice-cream.

So today was not exactly doing anything to the Triumph strictly speaking, but is was heavily involved in discovering how to use my new little Insta360 Go 2.

Lovely looking bike. You are certainly getting it how you want it and enjoy riding it. Keep posting about it please, pictures galore.

After playing with my new camera last week, today was simply using it catch the sights and sounds of what makes motorcycling special for me.

Clear blue skies,
Late spring and the sight of nature bursting out in multiple colours and shades of green.
Aimlessly wandering British country lanes with little or no other traffic.
The sound of the engine painting a picture.
Finding somewhere to stop, take it in, get a bite and a cold drink.

After nearly a month of not getting a chance to get out on the Bike, today an opportunity arouse to have few hours free to take a spin.
TBH it took a good few miles to get my biking mojo going, what with local road closures and diversions due to a marathon / fun run happening, being quite windy and getting caught in a few showers.
But then it all started to click as I headed out into the countryside dodging the greyest clouds.


I managed to explore a few new roads on my way to Banbury.


Things brightened up by the time I reached my destination at The PIg Place, an interesting stop for a coffee, it’s a working farm that has a good cafe, camping, farm shop that is biker friendly, the location is great with loads of outdoor seating alongside the canal.



Then a really good ride back home mojo fully restored on quiet roads, really enjoyed.

Closer to home I was criss-crossing the route of HS2, wonder how far I’d get along here before they caught me?

The overall look I am looking for needed something different for the seat.

I have looked to getting a new seat, but I like the shape and comfort of the original but not the look.
The next option was looking at getting it recovered, but most of what has been done to this bike so far has been done by me.
That’s when I found seat covers from the Canadian company Luimoto, who offered a couple of options for the Street Scrambler.

So I found the UK Importer, Speedymoto and a few weeks ago placed my order for the vintage black roll tuck version.

Today armed with a heavy duty stapler last used when I fitted a new seat cover to a KTM Supermoto and managed to staple my leg in the process, I set about fitting it.



It was quite a straight forward process, having viewed a couple of YouTube videos it took less than hour to go from this

On my laptop the above post displayed half a dozen lines of text and the top thitd of the picture. All I could think was "He's put a brown leather seat on it, this thread is going to go apocalyptic!"

I tried to like it but the exhausts kill it for me. Would burn my legs so a no no.

Overall I like everything you've done, but must agree about the exhaust. One of a very few bikes that look better from the LHS.

I had the same initial thought, but had it in my mind that it'd look good in brown

The exhausts, next to my leg are still standard, even the cat that sits behind the black section of heat guard, that part does get hot and touch it with bear skin you’ll know about it.
But on the section with the stainless heat shield Triumph have done a good job, you can touch that with your hand when running.

Really like what you've done, its a proper nice looking bike.

Almost like they knew what they were doing and had tested it before giving to the public.

I have been a busy boy this weekend.

I have been thinking about making the 2 black side panels the same colour as the tank, so rather than jumping in and irreversibly painting them I have wrapped them in a similar white to get a feel for how it will look.
Whilst at it I also took the opportunity to change the name graphic from the current ‘Street Scrambler’ in a text style that looks like it was nicked from ‘Street Hawk’ to the previous version of the Bonneville Scrambler.



Although the colour is a different shade of white, I think I like the overall look so I have ordered some Triumph Fusion white to match the tank in a rattle can and some clear coat to complete the change.
Bonus was the name stickers cam as a pair so I have a spare to use for the final job.

So when the paints arrive I’ll by trying my hand at spraying, lets see how that goes.

I like the black better,it tones in with the black engine,you'd hardly notice the side panel was there. I think sometimes when everything is done on a bike,we start looking for more stuff to do!

It's a fine line between taste and Bellwood,I've crossed it plenty of times in the past and been told so.

Just goes to show how tastes differ. To me, with the black ones, the tank looks a bit of an afterthought, whereas with the white, the mudguards and the splash of lightness from the bash plate etc it looks like a bit more thought has gone into it and emphasises the engine more rather than less. More ermm, 'balanced'. Wouldn't pick a fight over it though.

Come over here and say that again!

Ordered some paint from Germany, colour matched Triumph Fusion white basecoat and a matched clear coat.
The picked up some white plastic primer and scotch pads to give this painting thing a go.

I removed the wrap, the took the lacquer off the panels with a green scotch pad. This also allowed me to get to the original stickers that were under the clear coat, so off with them and a bit more rubbing down to remove the step in the paint around the stickers.
Taping the panels to a couple of sticks helped with handling, then it was on with the primer.



The tape was not good enough so one ended up on the floor, and I made the typical newbie error on the other with trying to put too much paint on in one coat. So it was a wait for it to harden off and back to the scotch pads.

After tiding up the messy bits, and taking it a bit easier they were ready for the basecoat.



A light first coat then 2 more they were ready for the same from the clear coat.

The paint was easy to apply and gave good coverage from the rattle cans, drying and application was helped by the warm weather I am sure.
So after just a couple of hours they were ready to have the heat shields refitted.



I gave it a bit more time to harden off a little more then popped them back onto the bike.




I am really happy with the results, I think I’ll leave the panels blank, no need for a model badge, I like the simple look as they are.
