I don't know what your ultimate vision is for the forum, weeksy, but while new blood is perhaps an issue, being selfish,I'd be more concerned about clicking on 'new posts' and not finding anything.
I think for the relatively small core of regular posters, the place does ok as far as interesting stuff goes.

I don't really have one fella. The only thing that bothers me is some of the people come in, post lots and the go again. I sit and ask myself 'why' and don't really know the answer. They post for a month or two and then disappear.Skub wrote: ↑Wed Jan 04, 2023 4:01 pm I don't know what your ultimate vision is for the forum, weeksy, but while new blood is perhaps an issue, being selfish,I'd be more concerned about clicking on 'new posts' and not finding anything.

But there's also a fair few regulars who've dropped off massively like @Tricky @G.P in terms of posts.

That's your mates, get wired into them both and demand an increase in performance before their next appraisal.

Lol nah, I don't mind why, I am just sometimes curious as to what we're not doing right that means some post less.

Maybe people are arguing less.

New year, new leaf innit? Wipe the slate clean. I've certainly noticed less outrage and more lurve.

Ditto on both counts for me too- have been quite occupied with other things recently with one or two spanners thrown in my works which has meant that the bikes and hence posting about them have taken a back seat.G.P wrote: ↑Thu Jan 05, 2023 11:58 amLife getting in the way!weeksy wrote: ↑Wed Jan 04, 2023 4:07 pmI don't really have one fella. That should change this year- bikey things that are currently planned this year (well, when I say planned, planned at the moment in my head- similar to @G.P 's never-ending plans to finish his 900SS projects I guess ) include:
- 1950 Vincent Comet complete ground-up restoration and build - it's been in a million (mainly corroded) pieces for the last god knows how many years and been on my list for nearly as long but it WILL get done to Concours standard this year
- More on the LC
- More on the Dragster
- Tuono fettling and ( perhaps ) some performance orientated mods for the old girl
- One or two bike tour reports- Have an Italy one planned for May with Isabella, there will be more (hopefully boys Highlands and maybe even more of Eastern Europe) if all goes to plan
- Maybe one or two new (to me) bikes- I haven't bought one for quite a while now, the urge has been building and needs to be satisfied soon!
- Should be a few trackdays here and there too, and of course as many muddy-boys days as I can manage on the trusty Orange bike, so will try to report on them as I go .
That's more than enough to be going on with for me I reckon, and from the above list it looks like I've fallen into the trap of setting my own objectives for the year that I guess can now be used to measure me in next year's appraisal- hopefully won't result in PIPs if (or let's be honest, more likely when ) I fail to deliver them all- GP's obviously a lot more experienced in these sort of reviews and has made his far harder to measure ....
Seriously though, the bottom line for me is here and PB are the only forums I visit on anything like a regular basis and although yes, I agree we could definitely do with more new members and contributors, as let's face it, most of us on here are pretty old and there are a few (mentioning no names ) that don't seem to venture out of the politics/news forum or have the remotest interest in bikes anymore, there are also some really sound, interesting, helpful and funny people on here who post entertaining and thought-provoking content.
Is good to measure and always be thinking of how we can attract new people, but if it's still financially and time viable for you, then until it gets too stale I don't think we worry too much.
Which is all you were saying I think- I've just taken (a fuck load) more words to say it
Anyway Mr W- your efforts are very much appreciated by lots of us I know- here's to 2023 and beyond- onwards and upwards and all that

That would be me, I am interested and do read motorbike threads, I just don't have much to contribute. That might change one day when I find some spare time down the back of the sofa and buy a vintage bike to tinker with but for now I'm stuck reading about other peoples' money pits.

Was more or less not said when this place took over from last. All welcome and leave baggage at the door?
