Thank you. I need to use my phone or find a different (more modern!) tablet for ExpressVPN, but I'll have a look and see if they can find a way to use the current one :D
If you use it on a FireStick it needs to be one that is gen2 or newer by the way.

I don't have a firestick, but I'm guessing the Apple TV needs to be relatively new? :(

Couldn't tell you, don't have one.
But normally the Vpn of your choice will have quite detailed install instructions for each application. ExpressVpn did, if I'd bothered to read them before I got myself into trouble. Plus it wasn't straightforward to find out what generation the FireStick was. ....
Here's the install instructions for Apple TV for example https://www.expressvpn.com/vpn-software/vpn-apple-tv

I don’t know if this is of any use but you could try one of the more reputable VPN providers for free. ProtonVPN is said to be the best for free. No limit on usage. Only difference in their paid version is the limited amount of servers.

I’ve used both their paid and free service and have had a good service on a very old iPad mini as well as Linux. They are based in Switzerland.

I don’t know about tv or anything like it as I don’t watch any of it, prefer my books.
