Re: Qashqai stop/start batteries.
It's comfy, a bit rattly, a bit cheap in sections and keeps breaking, heck it could be!

That, short journeys, heated windows, lights, seats etc switched on?
I get it each winter when I haven't had a long run.

My journey average in last month have been 100+ miles lol. Long drives are not an issue when you live in Berks and ride Mtb.

Working from home and doing hardly any miles days on end is the issue.

Re: Qashqai stop/start batteries.
Stop?Start is an odd thing. As Wull said a lot of things have to be joined up for them to work. Too much drain on the alternator, amongst other things, and they don't kick in. Yes a duff battery will deffo stop it working.

Don't most folk override the stop/start, so it dont do it. It's not like it does anything besides knacker batteries and starters.

Re: Qashqai stop/start batteries.
Ours only kicks in if you're in neutral and clutch out.
Soon as you press the clutch, it fires up.
Not sure how others work.

Re: Qashqai stop/start batteries.
Mine have all been the same, I'm on my third S/S car now. Never had an issue with any of them, my Beemer is on it's 9 year old, 120k OE battery at the moment. It doesn't work below 3°C or when the battery is particularly flat. I'd say it cuts in 99% of the time it 'should'.
I never turn it off. Don't see why you would really, it's basically invisible to me.

Re: Qashqai stop/start batteries.
We had a car at work that did it, it was mildly annoying in traffic.

It's very rare we have to wait in traffic.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 4:03 pm We had a car at work that did it, it was mildly annoying in traffic.

Re: Qashqai stop/start batteries.
WeI do on the wife's Mini, Start engine and then turn stop/start off. I'm not actually sure if my Merc has it? It's in E mode by default and I think that means stop/start, but its never stopped at the lights etc?Dodgy knees wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 3:56 pm Don't most folk override the stop/start, so it dont do it. It's funny, like most people these days I drive a S/S car and pretty much every car I go in with someone else is also S/S. I never ever heard of someone going to the effort of turning it off at the start of every journey until this place.

If it's any consolation I don't turn it off when I borrow SWMBO's company car, no point, it gets replaced every 3 or 4 years and I don't have to pay or do the repairs on it.

Re: Qashqai stop/start batteries.
First car I had with it, I turned it off each time for the first week. Thought it was irritating (and also from an era when stop/starting a car used more fuel than ticking over for a short time). Stopped bothering after a week. Now get irritated if I pull up at the lights and the engine doesn't stop.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 2:55 pm It's funny, like most people these days I drive a S/S car and pretty much every car I go in with someone else is also S/S.
