1981 RD250LC, you haven't got the budget for a 350, just make sure it goes as it should before parting with money, not that an engine rebuild is mega money, but you could knock a grand off for shagged crank seals.

I focused on the 'ignore the requirements' part of the message. It's not Japanese either. :) It's in budget though.

WhenI got my 950Sm I thought it was the bike i'd waited all my life for. Super comfortable, nice smooth throttle response, loads of power if you wanted it and gentle as a kitten if you didn't. Sadly, the litre of oil every 1000 clicks and it was plagued by electrical problems which left me stranded a couple of times eventually put me off it . I think KTMs are off the list tbh.

I was looking at sv650s as they are a favourite bike of mine, but even the newer ones look dated. A lot of roads lead me to the MT-07 and it certainly ticks a lot of boxes. I was put off by the ergonomics, but I guess that's going to be a problem for me on a lot of bikes?

I'm a bit put off of the MT as there are things like 02 sensor eliminators available. So it sounds like it has snatchy throttle response and if you get that on a bike its really noticeable in heavy traffic commuting which is my daily journey. I'd need to look at the cost and availability of ecu remaps I suppose? But, most late Fi bikes suffer from this and it's a reminder of that for me.

For that money I'd being going for a Triumph TIger 800. Good for commuting, all day comfy for another trip to Normandy, don't dissolve in the UK weather. They hold their price too..

I think you've just found the only bike in the UK for sale that's not in Yorkshire.

Looking at XT660Xs now. Only sold my last one as it wasn't ulez compliant. They do seem to hold their money very well or are just over priced?

The MT-03 should be a runner but I'll have to keep looking at it for a good while to get past that hideous rear shock set up...

I think the fact there's so few of them means they hold money well. I still love a 660x and if they made them new I'd have bought one over the mt07.

Nice example.

Power commander, airbox stuff and exhaust transforms the 660

The only thing that puts me off of those and bike like the X-Advs they are a magnet for bike thieves in London. But I agree the XTX is a cracking bike and would suit my needs well. Kev mod sorts out the part throttle cruising cheaply too.

Where I find most Fi bikes struggle is with the throttle just open in 1st and second gears at slow speed. It seems to be the light switch effect of it kicking in and out that makes it snatchy? In normal road use they are mostly fine, but when you commute in London, you're often at that bad point.

That looks quite the bargain!

I was recently working with a lad who had one. Z650, He loved it but eventually missed the sheer power of the big bike and is now looking for a decent R1.

If the planets align and I do go down this route, it'll (probably) be between these? The biggest shock is I like a bike with fluro yellow wheels! :wtf:
