That's the shit thing with ktm. You have to keep paying for software updates and stuff. If I don't get this mt to my liking one of them could replace it though, and yes, you need the tech pack. πŸ‘

Nope, you get the updates for no cost

Not in Colwyn bay you don't, unless they've changed their ways. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

Yea, one of those thin ikea type ones. It was cut and taped the the vertical side of the to box closest to the seat so it acted a bit like a lorry mud flap. Cost me all of a quid and some gaffa tape. Only use it when it's lashing down.

Hmmm!! Got me thinking. The last KTM I rode was the 990 SD, I may have to get a test ride on one of the newer KTM's, I'm assuming they're very different?

Pretty different yes. Physically a lot smaller/lighter than the 990sd. Not as grunty, but as quick.

I don't mind lighter, I loved both my 600 Hornets. And I am thinking I need different to what I normally ride. Just looked and I can get a new 890R in my local KTM dealer for Β£9k, no tech pack though obviously.

TBH mate, for what you want and need i'm not sure you need the 890R. The base model 890 can still get tech-packed, just has lower spec brakes/suspension, but they're all perfectly decent.

Premier for example have a demo (i assume) base 890 at good money, as do a few others.

They are tiny, I saw Trickys parked up next to his 390, they looked about the same size.

Same problem. Shit flying through gap under box/rack. It's also looping over rack to get me, very clever. They really do need a gaurd thing to block spray before it gets airborne, iykwim. πŸ‘

They're not tall like the 990SD was no... but they're not baby sized. Their riding position is at the front wheel though so when you sit on them you're almost on the front axle, which is i guess why it's so sharp handling. The only thing that stopped me getting one was when i was chopping to the 690 i thought the 890R would be a little cramped in the right knee (a couple of bendy issues i have), so i went for the 690 which is taller and more spacious to the knee. It then transpired that i ended up with the Mt07 which is about the same as the 890R lol...

I suppose it depends what your comparing it with, but MT09s don't strike me as either small or light.

I looked up the weight after posting this, 190KG wet is good for a 900, about 25KG less than my 750 for the same power, but physically small they aren't, but as I said it depends what you compare it with, I had a YZ125E that weighed 80KG.

Yeah they really are. Irrespecitive of what figures i've seen, the 790/890 is a physically small bike, like both feet flat down for someone 5'7" type small.

Rear wheel spray on the Trident is awful. The low hugger does nothing really. One of many reasons I don't take it out in the rain
