Not really expecting any of those to happen. Fingers crossed for my 3 days at Estoril in September!
My pessimism was a bit off. Easter's trip didn't happen but Cochem is on!

Role on 4:30am Friday morning!
If the Covid stuff were different i'd have been there in a shot with you this year... Should be an absolute blast mate !

Since Tomcat wrote his post on April Fools Day things have already opened up a bit. But we know that's a compromise with safety to help the economy. So IMO he is still right about the big picture, especially for anyone (like my wife and to a lesser degree, me) with a pre-existing health condition.

At the moment I'm just grateful I can get out for day trips on the bike, which I think are pretty safe as long as I'm self-sufficient for food and drink and make sure I'm in a rural area when the need for a pee arises.

I'm hopeful me and the Gremlinette can still get away to Bologna and the surrounds for our annual Italian biking week during the October half term. So far just the bike and flights booked.

Me and my mate have decided to have a 2 night trip. 1 night around Carlisle and 2nd around Bishop Auckland. Premier inn's.
Now, I've heard about the A708 Moffat to Selkirk being a great road, but are there others I need to know about.???
I do want to go through the Kielder forrest and passed Kielder water, working our way down. It would be a shame to go all that way and miss out. Going on Wednesday hopefully.
Anyone familiar with the area or any tips for POI.

Thanks in advance.

We would have gone on the bike, but my gf is not yet ready for full days on the bike, and she hasn't yet come to terms with the luggage capacity of motorcycles......

That probably won't store much more stuff than a bike anyway.

Well, we've got to get to Alton in a FIAT 500, so I'm assuming that if we can still get ourselves into the FIAT then we should be ok in the Mustang!

The road gang have decided that we're doing another week island hopping. Last time we did Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Tenerife and La Gomera. This time we're adding La Palma. Hopefully will be a couple of extra pals along. Will be perfect touring weather in October :)

And the enduro lads like my idea of 2 nights on Fuerteventura in November. They all did a 300 mile competition over there 4 years ago, so will have some ideas of routes. November will again be perfect weather for this.

if you're coming up from the midlands to Carlisle take a right at Penrith on to the A686, up Hartside pass and on towards Alston. Turn left just before the bridge onto the A689 to Brampton then left onto the A69 into Carlisle.

Carlisle - Moffat - Selkirk - Hawick - Kielder - Bishop is a good days ride. Try to avoid the A68, too many long straight bits

From Bishop take the A688 to Barnard Castle where you can get your eyes tested. Over the bridge and turn left up to the A66, right and first left onto Slang Lane, left at the end into Reeth then right towards Muker, over Buttertubs to Hawes. Take the right fork after the garage to Ingleton and on to Devil's Bridge.

That should be a decent test of those new tyres

Thanks Druid,

I like the Penrith r/h idea, get us off the motorway for a bit, but will add time, we're not leaving home (Shrewsbury) until 12 at the earliest. Mates got dentist. Hope he's agreeable to it though.
Also like the Devil's bridge idea, never been, and heard the roads are great all around there.

Looking like a good route this. 👍

At the very least you should ride up to Hartside. Turn around at the car park at the top, admire the view and then ride back down. It would be a shame to miss one of the most iconic biking roads in the country as you're so close.

Edit to my earlier post: LEFT fork in Hawes after the garage

Bit of bad news here :(

2 of the fast enduro lads are fast as fuck on the roads and they come on the mental island tours.

But 3 of the enduro lads are a bit slower on the roads, but have road bikes and fancy the island trip, but at a gentler pace. So I suggested a sedate second Island tour in November.

It's lucky I'm retired as I have so many holidays to organise.

And I haven't started yet on the Jerez March tour ;)

Good luck :)
If you can't make it, I could pop over and give the bike a run out :)

Who's it with and how much? Portimao and Jerez are silly prices.
