It was interesting listening to Stoner talk during practice,not at all snipey yet giving honest opinion. Amazing to think he didn't actually enjoy racing and the most fun times for him were qualifying,where he could just do his own thing and beat the clock.

Maybe he should have tried the Island.

That was a real thought provoking statement from Stoner. Rossi is putting in faster times than he ever did,but the others are all faster,maybe because they are the generation who makes best use of the electronics,whereas in sporting terms he's an old man.

The stiffer set up in the wet is just mind boggling.

I reckon Lorenzo and Stoner were quicker on their best day. But Rossi had more best days.

Rossi was also more ruthless than the rest when he felt he had to be over time. Look at his passes on Lorenzo and Gibernau on same corner at Jerez, Stoner at Laguna, Marquez at more than a few places and Lorenzo on that famous last lap at Catalunya when Rossi said himself on camera later when he decided to go up the inside on that last corner "If we crash, fuck it"

He will forever be My Champion. Having suffered listening to the mind numbingly post race interviews of Doohan and Roberts et al., VR brought fun and excitement back to the sport. I also loved his on-off track antics. He made black and white races colourful. You never knew what he would do next. Calculated madness.

I wouldn’t compare him to Sheene. Different era, different fan base. VR was a natural follow on to Schwantz.

They’ll be talking about him in 50 + more years.
