How can I forget Car SOS.
Every episode is on Disney+... which I don't have any more, which is a good thing because I always end up crying at the end.

I had a 1967 Pontiac GTO, 7 litre engine, drum brakes (twin leading shoe on the front), it would do 120mph and weighed a ton, stopping distances were long, very long, it looked impressive but was actually a bit shit, a late 2.0 Sierra was quicker and handled better, a lot better.
Only with a lot more rust
And there's no such thing as nice Ford Capri, they're all dreadful cars, the newer ones are worse than the early ones.

That^ absolutely.
Can't stand loud brash people so don't want to watch them either.
I think thats a good reason Youtube is so popular nowadays cos you just watch somone else instead and don't have to put up with filler content.
So that would be
This Old Tony.
Project Binky.
AVE.
a few woodwork ones like Rob Cosman, Paul Sellers, Stumpynubs and so on then some science stuff.

I reckon you might like Huygens Optics on youtube. Dutch guy, formerly of Philips I think, making various lenses, telescopes and similar sorts of things at home. Yesterday I watched him making OLED displays in his garage.demographic wrote: ↑Fri Nov 05, 2021 10:19 amThat^ absolutely.

He also went to see another guy who made a proper telescope from a single block of glass about the size of a shot glass for use in a cubesat.

I REALLY, REALLY want to like the tv stuff - but the presnters are such terrible cnuts aren't they? all of them, hateful and awful. And the Brits just copy the same faux zany, I'm a cool guy format.
I mean I don't want it to be like when Nigel used to meet his moustachioed mates down my local on a wednesday for 'car club' over a pint of bitter and guffaw over incorrect period tyre selection - but there must be some middle ground?

Fantomworks guy couldn't be less like that if he tried.... Neither could Wayne Carini actually. Both very quiet and down to earth.DefTrap wrote: ↑Fri Nov 05, 2021 10:35 am I REALLY, REALLY want to like the tv stuff - but the presnters are such terrible cnuts aren't they? all of them, hateful and awful. TV has to have a broader appeal doesn't it, even on small channels. The biggest YouTube channels still 'only' have millions of subscribers, which would be small/average for a TV channel.
Plus the fact TV is made by TV people first and specialists second rather than vice versa. TV producers and presenters know how to make TV first and understand the subject matter second for the most part.

However, they were not really mainstream were they, whereas some of the American market, lets say a 55 Chevy was an everyday car which has classic status and styling to my eyes.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Fri Nov 05, 2021 8:18 am They did not First road car was in 1993 IIRC.
I think you need to look at some more European stuff from the 50-70s though!
I rebuilt the motor in one of those a while back. California car....block was full of sand.

Having worked in telly(anyone remember Boon?), I couldn't watch car programs even if we had a tv. I had to put up with loads of shite from production teams.....

I realise this is heresy, but I enjoy wheeler dealers more with elvis than I did with edd.
Ant anstead is ok, but I think elvis has breathed new life into the show.

Since you lot arent going to ask..not only did i rebuild one of Boon's beezers ( we had 3) , but i also rode them..including in an attemt at a sequence for the titles running through the queensway tunnels in brum with a filmist sat on the back.
Not sure if they used that bit as the bike was misnehaving big time after three runs...
I had warned them...and we had other bikes on set that would have been easier....

I haven't watched TV for a couple of years, got rid of my TV about a year ago and last week I cancelled my TV licence and got a £58 refund
I watch a lot of mending, creating and engineering on Youtube.
