We didn't even care if we crashed them. Was great fun.

With all my Suzukis, the drive home was the running in. Then straight on track.

I got bored running it in around the 200 miles mark and just thrashed the fucker.

I sold it at three years old, with 26k on the clock.

It was on it's 2nd clutch and gearbox and burnt a litre of oil every 100 miles.

Me too these days, but I bought the R6 when I was 21 and didn't have a car license.

When i first met you i had a ZX6R G2 ...... bought with 6000 on the clock, traded in with ( i think) 58,000 miles on the clock 3 years later

LCs have tiny ports compared with that YZ125, it was bloody fast (for a 125) but was difficult to ride, it needed a better rider than me,I did well to keep it in the power band for a lap, it was an ex Yamaha UK bike, I spoke to Bavins in Diss about it, they new the bike and said "that's what it does" and cheerfully sold me a box of 10 rings.

As with everything, of course, but £2000 gets you to 85. At that stage you may as well have bought a zx6

Lol so no. The R7 whilst I think it'd be a great bike, is a very one trick pony and like things like SV650 race bikes or CB500s etc need a certain mindset, mentality and desire to get the best out them and enjoy them.
Underpowered bikes can leave you feeling very dejected on track if you're not of the right mindset

It suffers from what a lot of these type of things suffer, it's lovely and perfect in it's own right, but then you start to compare it to things and there are plenty of reasons why it's not the best thing you could buy.

I have to applaud Julian for what he did, just buy something, don't think too hard about it and make it work for you.

Yeah I didn't say you didn't - well I suppose you did a bit more back and forth and three bikes later - but yeah fair play
In terms of taking the plunge you're way braver than I am, I spend 99% of my time thinking and 1% buying.

I dunno if Mrs Weeksy would thank you for doing it with her bike though
Although she'd have to admit that Yamaha looks a millions times better than the Kwaka.

The good news is that I'm mates with the bloke who runs the Yamaha hire bikes at Silverstone. So it'll cost me £50-60 to send her out for a session next spring. Worst she can so is come back in hating it, but you never know. I'll deffo be sending her out for a try though. However that depends on whether they do make the concept of the R9, which if they do, we'll be all over. That would be much easier to sell as an idea to her.

It's nice, I reckon she would lap quicker and exit corners quicker than on the 600 as the CP2 engine has great grunt for this. The only time she'd miss the power is at silverstone. I'd be surprised if she'd lose too much on the straights tbh. Map and exhaust and it would be nearly 80hp at the wheel and with getting on the power earlier the straight bit wouldn't be much different. What would be is how it feels once wound up on the straight so she may feel she's going slower. Also the suspension won't be as good as the ZX6 but that's easily sorted

I'm genuinely surprised it only produces 74bhp, I'd have guessed at over 100bhp based on what 1000cc bikes make, AFAIK anyway.
