But something else is brewing.

“Boris Johnson faced a new sleaze row last night after it emerged that the parliamentary watchdog has accused him of failing to come clean about his Mustique holiday with fiancee Carrie Symonds.

Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards Kathryn Stone has said the Prime Minister's break was worth more than twice the £15,000 he declared in the Commons Register.

And she said it was clear the bill had not been met by Tory donor and Carphone Warehouse co-founder David Ross, as the Prime Minister claimed.”

and more...

BoJob's a fucking disaster, he a worse PM than Cameron.

You have to go back a long way to find one worserer. Neville Chamberlain perhaps?

And you'll find the poor and moany, the so-called Red Wall, are the idiots that think he's doing a good job. "Brexit, yeah good old Boris kicking out the immigrunts innit", "Covid, yeah he's cured that ain't he?"

I really, really don't understand Bozo's popularity. Yes, he got Brexit done - but at what cost? He's managed to destabilise the Northern Ireland peace process (which no one that doesn't live on the Island of Ireland cares about), he's cut off the supply of labour for a large section of the economy (you know the ones I mean - all those jobs the the locals are too bone idle to do for the wages on offer), he's damaged the UK international reputation with his willingness to throw international law out the window because it doesn't suit and then there's the massive roll back on the international aid budget for those in desperate need - and no, I don't mean tory sycophants that are after yet another lucrative contract without going through the tedious process of due diligence.

I could go on - but you get the picture.

This!! I don't hate anyone and I don't follow any particular party. But I do dislike what Cameron did (fcked up the vote by not having a safety margin) and seriously dislike that the 'boys' in politics ousted Theresa May because her deal was so awful but there is a worse one finalised by Johnson. WTAF??

And yes, I do have an axe to grind -

I can't employ the people I want due to them having UK passports
I still can't get a French driving licence because the agreement (that seemed to have been forgotten for the actual deal) still hasn't been ratified
We now have to submit paperwork for any private visitors because the UK is now a '3rd country'

Those are just the first three that come to mind!

How can this guy be popular??

Oh yes - the same way that Brexit was voted for. These idiots - "Brexit, yeah good old Boris kicking out the immigrunts innit"

Because for 90% (made up seat of my pants figure) of the population Brexit has made absolutely the sum total of fuck all difference in their lives.
Aside form the fact I'm as busy as a bastard because of it, it has made no difference to me.

Over the last couple of years I've found the painting of "left wing vs right wing" as two solid blobs and total demonisation of the views of those within as not just tiresome but also ruining any constructive debate. It's made political debate a lot closer to what you see in the US, and that's not a good thing.

I've always thought arguing politics is for losers.

I haven't a clue what left and right means, and don't wanna know.

That's me happy :)

Your tolerance for Noggin's overtly political post couldn't possibly have anything to with the fact that she is a pal of yours, could it? ;)

I think those things (and the rest that will follow) were just known consequences of brexit. The popularity of Boris just highlights how bad the current opposition is.

Labour does have an issue on its hands though, Starmer is desperate to take the party away from Corbynism back towards the centre. The problem is that Boris is already sitting in that seat..

He’s certainly created a niche. Doesn’t that make him a successful politician? Having Hartlepool(of all fucking places) essentially vote for him would suggest that it does.

You think that Boris occupies the centre ground? I'd say he's about as far extreme right as you can go without goose-stepping into Parliament. Most of what Corbyn proposed is vewed as standard Social Democrat fare in most of Europe, particularly the Nordic states. It's a measure of how far the Tories have moved the political landscape to the right that Boris could ever be viewed as centrist.

Any administration that tries to criminalise popular protest is along way from the centre.

It was fairly obvious that a large percentage of the poor and moany would be in favour of Brexit. Cameron cynically put the referendum into the Conservative manifesto to get their votes, safe in the knowledge (he thought) that the there was no way a 'yes' result would happen. Johnson delivered on what should have been an empty promise. No wonder the hard of thinking believe he's doing a good job.

Boris is an opportunist, he’ll blow with which ever political wind suits him at the time. I’m not sure he has any views of his own, but at the moment it will suit him to occupy the ground labour want to take.

That will (and has) play well with the red wall voters but he needs to be careful with his Tory heartland - not that they will vote labour but the green and Lib Dem vote may di,ute his majorities,

Is that another way of saying ‘democracy would be great if it wasn’t for the voters’?

And yes, Cameron has fucked up the country big style.

Yes, Boris is.

And the latest fiasco where Starmer tried to demote/remove Angela Rayner only to finally be forced to promote her has made him look like a puppet with strings pulled by the left. Which he is, of course.
