Wow lucky boy indeed, dad & brothers were both into their bikes but we always had to pay for anything out of our own pocket - apart from the brough our dad left us a couple of years ago that is. Don't think any of our kids are into bikes of the motored variety, apart from my sisters son in law that is who had a custom harley

He has his gear already, he needed it for his lessons and he's been riding the RE.
He's got a Shark and KTMs branded Airoh.

Standard KTM dealership...all the spare engine parts laid out on the counter for easy access by multiple punters...

He's the one in the foreground. He's giving the bike a shakedown for his nipper, who's out of shot.

Re: Inevitable new bike thread
It's home now and he's very happy, he's been used to the Interceptor and the 390 is a lot lighter and more aggressive so it steers a lot quicker. He keeps going on about how responsive it is and how fast he can throw it around corners.
I had a go up and down the street and it feels light and nippy but quite revvy and vibey, obviously not as much lovely silky torque of the RE.

Re: Inevitable new bike thread
Knocked off it this morning
Bloke pulled right out in front of him, didn’t even have time to brake. Luckily it was on a side street and he only hit it at about 30mph but it was 30mph to zero instantly. Land cruiser as well, so he didn’t go over the top, just smashed into it. There is a huge dent in the side of the car but the bike doesn’t look that bad although it needs to be checked properly until I know the extent of the damage.
He’s ok, he jumped up ready to do damage to the bloke but that quickly faded and after that he was just shaken up and a bit tender, nothing broken. Luckily even though it was hot he had the full gear on and knee pads, he got used to wearing then because it’s law while you’re learning so he puts them on now out of habit. Those combined with my leather jacket, decent boots and my gloves means not even a graze, but he’ll be a bit bruised in the morning.

Re: Inevitable new bike thread
Glad he bounced well and was wearing the gear out of habit. That is the best news. Hopefully things on the bike can be fixed up easily and quickly and his confidence does not take too much of a hammering. Not saying poors obs as shit happens. Bruises heal up, his mind may need a bit more time.

Glad he's OK. Do you think a more experienced rider would have seen the potential danger sooner ?

Glad he's okay. Sometimes I think a minor accident without injury is a good thing for new riders. It wakes them up a bit to dangers they might not have considered, iyswim?

Re: Inevitable new bike thread
Fuck. So glad he's ok. What Taipan says too.
But mostly, really glad he's ok.
Hope he gets back on it soon to prevent any demons about riding.
And so so glad he uses the full gear automatically
(PS - if there's a next time, any chance you can put the 'he's ok' bit at the start of the post??? )
