On a trackday with something like that, there's always going to be the expectation from others that you need to do the bike justice. If you are happy enough in yourself just to enjoy the thing for what it is and at your own level, that's a cool thing, but sadly a rare thing.

To many folk worry what others say and are terrified of the 'all the gear and no idea' tag. At the end of the day,if you splashed the cash on anything, you don't owe it to anyone else how you use it.

I don't get the " do the bike justice " that pretty much wipes out the entire track bike community and 75% of the club level racing community also ! who the fuck care's ..ride it enjoy have fun !...u think you are pushing your CB500 in a race to its limits ! lol give it Neil Hodgeson and see him knock seconds of your race time !....have fun enjoy it

Yep, it does, which says a lot about the current mindset of people at track days in the UK

Kinda but we're mostly all blokes, who are by definition competitive, whether that's with others or themselves, we go to track to push limits of cornering, riding etc, only our own limits, but that's the job. Pushing increases endorphins, which increases smiles, that's why we as riders do tracks. Even though I don't push hard imo, I still have battles with mates and that makes me smile.

well as with all topics, there's various points within each discussion, this was also about "doing the bike justice" which for me, by simply being out on circuit you're already ticking that box

No-one is doing any bike justice in the context of "as fast as it can go" so that's a completley pointless discussion.

S'funny. I don't feel any sensation of speed. I just wanna go as fast as it will go.
If I had another 30 or 40 gee gees it would just hit numbers quicker.

I worked out a while ago that I'd done 150+ about 30,000 times.

Simple maths.
I hit 150 every lap.
100 laps a day.
20 Trackdays a year.
15 years.

Reckon so. Screaming in 4th or shift to 5th a bit.
