Buy a big enough van and you could store the trailer in there ;)

Some van bump stops could be better as will be rubber !?

It's almost like they designed that feature in.

You might want to cable tie some split pipe onto it to protect the galvanising.

yeah decent idea... I'll do that next time i move it down. But in all honesty, even it it fell apart next week i've had my money out of it and would replace it with a new one of these :)

Part of me would LOVE a van, but the reality is, they're not very nice to drive. They're exceptionally function though of course. But noisy and less frugal. The later ones now are better on fuel, but you're looking at £16,000-25000 for one of them, so that's not currently on the radar. For a lot of the time i could cope OK with the van, but for things like trips to France it wouldn't be ideal having 3 people crammed into the front for 8 hours of driving.

You can of course get vans with 2 rows of seats, but the problem is, you can't get 2 bikes in with 2 rows of seats, so the functionality is lost to an extent.

Vans also seem more prone to issues over cars, injectors etc on the Vivaro/Trafic, clutch, etc... My Mondeos seem to mostly go forever without any problems, but vans often seem to be on the verge of a £1000 bill.

I had a rusty old Mk6 Transit, it was the best thing to drive ever!

You could see so much more than in a car, it was comfy and everyone gave way and let me out of junctions way more than in the car.

The wife loved it even more than I did and used it over the Mundano she had at the time. She called it 'Flo'

The only problem with using a larger van are your everyday vehicle is parking in car spots, not being allowed in the tip (or only 6 times a year) and people thinking you're a pikey.

it's more the noise for me along with 3 people for 'trips' something like Pembrey isn't too bad with 3 of us. but France would be a pain. You could argue though for that 10 days a year i could hire a car... or indeed use the Focus, but that would complicate things with bicycles for Morzine.

I'm certainly not completely against the idea and i actually see it happening in 5 years time when i take a chunk out of pension. But currently, the trailer does most jobs.

That said, i've got to pick up the ZX6R this weekend and need to hire a van as it's going to be walloping it down.

Not going to get 2 motorbikes in it. Pointless having a van we can only get 1 bike in, we'd then still need to hire one for the days when we both wanted to go to track etc.

I built it to get 1 bike in. Could just as easily built it for 2.

If you see a boat on a trailer on the road, don't follow it too close.
I've seen the owners battering the fuck out of the hubs to free the brakes off after the boat has been pulled out of the water (soaked bearings and brakes) then left over winter.
Come spring they want to use the boat and take it somewhere.
Beat the shit out of the hubs and off they drive with wobbly bearings.

At least cars get an MOT.

They do here. No home made trailers. They need paperwork and ITV (MOT)
