There's no 'settings' for browsers, I can't influence, change, modify, update anything in any of the options that will or won't allow anything that may help, they simply don't exist.
As far as I know, the browser being used doesn't exist within the forums brain.

I could turn off the cookies, but that's a bad thing, so afraid there's no options open to me other than "don't use safari' sorry

Of course, goes without saying. Just a phpBB bug I guess and only mentioned for the reference of others really.

I wouldn't do that and not even sure it would fix it. I'll have to use Chrome for desktop, which is a bit of a pain, though I'm not going to bother on mobile. But then I don't post from my phone anyway.

Try Brave Browser. It’s a fork of Chrome-Firefox and you can tweak it in lots of way. Do it the right way and it removes all of the YT ads. It is also very fast and secure. You don’t need to use the ‘Rewards’ feature. Multi option search sites such as Qwant.

I have enough browsers :) I use Safari, Chrome and Firefox for various different things.

To be pedantic, it's based on Chromium which has the Blink rendering engine which is a fork of Apple's WebKit. Firefox is unrelated and runs on Gecko, though has some WebKit in the iOS version I think.

I would prefer just one, but that runs the risk that one day it will not work.

Safari doesn't work here
Chrome doesn't work on a couple of commercial sites I use
Maxthon Cloud came with the machine and it won't let me delete it.

I just try to remember which one to use where.

To be fair, I only use multiple browsers because I separate various activities of professional and personal stuff, not because any of them don't work anywhere (well, apart from here). I could just use Chrome everywhere as it can do multiple accounts pretty well which I use a lot for some work, but Safari is still the best for general use IMHO - for a Mac/iPhone user. I'll probably end up just using Chrome at some point, it does 95% of what Safari can do.

OK, I've worked it out :)

Very confused that it happened to me on multiple devices, but not all...

Seemed to be cookie-related, but even deleting the cookies for the site didn't help. But... turns out I installed some software on one of my Macs and my phone a few days (that I forgot about), called Hush. The concept is that it ignores cookie warnings to and just closes them for you. Which is fine on all sites except this one that has the cookie issue on Safari that asks every couple of days. Overriding it for the site gives me back the regular cookie acceptance and then I get the functions/buttons back again :)
