A world champion stopped for a natter with me one day in London.

I was sitting on the bike waiting for a job to come in, and this bloke walked past and said "nice helmet" and carried on. I just said "thanks, it's not bad" and didn't think anything of it.

Ten minutes later the same bloke came back again and said "still here". I thought "f*ck, it's Phil Read". I was wearing a Phil Read replica :)

I said "it's a quiet day". And we had a chat for ten mins or so, he seemed genuinely interested in our chat about bikes, biking round London, courier work and my little Honda 250 :)

Phil Read was over at the UGP a load of years ago, when his bike conked out on a parade lap and he stopped and yarned with our little bunch. He seemed a personable chap,up for a bit of banter. He was looking the lend of a bike to get back to the paddock,I didn't volunteer mine.
