For those with watch all the classes how about Canets crash in Q2 before anyone had even started a hot lap. Who fancies lobbing a bike on a blind crest the sliding down the other side

After i posted this clip a racing mate, Rik Ballerini from Bemsee, tagged me in it on FB as some other racers had posted it there and asked if it seemed familiar.

Early 2000's at Lydden Hill i was marshal at the exit of turn 1, blind crest left hander that drops down on the exit when a rider in the 250GP class highsided and land on the downhill. I ran to him, realised his leg was broken and couldnt drag him off the track. I gave the signal for a red flag but as the lap is so short the leaders were already on the approach to the bend. I told the bloke to stay still, stood my legs either side of him and waved my hands in the air hoping the lead guys would see me in my Orange romper suit as they came over the crest about 20m away.

The first 4 bikes over were Rik, Lee Finney, Jason Holland and iirc Luke Lawrence, 3 went past me on the outside, 1 on the inside and nobody hit us as the red was thrown and everyone slowed after the first group. To say my heart rate went up a tad is an understatement but was a split second decision as i knew they would have hit him on the ground dressed in black leathers.

And yes he bought me a crate of beer

Prediction time then.

McPhee 7th. Arenas to win overall

Lowes 3rd. Bastia to win overall by finishing 4th.

MotoGP I think I'll take Miller for the win. With Cal in 3rd.

Alex has admitted even injured Sam would be faster on the Moto 2 bike as Alex has no experience on one having being in production based racing

Plus Alex has a small scar near his left eye

What an amazing day of racing. But no comments?

We've been BBQing and they've just left. Quick dip in the pool and some extra wood on bbq to warm me up. Beer is still cold.

Not often i get to spend an entire race meeting undisturbed in front of the telly watching all 3 classes. Once thats done then normal stuff resumes including some garden things, some DIY and my daughter brought over her 12 week old mini sausage dog puppy to play in the garden with our grumpy 14 year old JRT

Moto3 ...... How the fuck did Foggia get a podium after not 1, but 2 long lap penalties and Arenas did well to finish with enough points after the entire field beat him up

Moto2..... Sam Lowes, At lap 5 or 6 i was thinking "he can win this championship" but a superb ride through the pain barrier and even after the flag was one of the first to ride to Enea and congratulate him on the crown rather than heading for pain injections

MotoGP.... Oliviera just cleared off. Yamahas fighting not to be last apart from Franco and superb ride from Miller to mug him. Was awkward to watch the Ducati garages make a big show of welcoming back in Dovi and Petrux in big "thank you" fake displays. Contrast that to Cal returning to the LCR garage and you knew the entire team meant it

Looking forward even more to riding there now

Great day of racing, Moto3 played out the script to the end. I was hoping Arbolino would nick it (you can only pronounce his name prefixed with Toni and in a New York accent ) but Arenas toughed it out really well.
Couldn't believe Sam in Moto2, complete nail.
MotoGP, I've got a Portuguese friend who went apeshit at Oliveira winning. Good on him, he completely dominated. Great to see Franco and Jack fight it out again and not be bitchy about each other afterwards. Much classier then what we've seen in recent years..

I'm really hoping for a proper season next year.

I didn't get to see much 'live' as i was out in the woods trying not to die on jumps.

I thought the GP was ace of course, couldn't ask for a nicer finish to the season than a local boy winning.

Moto2, well that was just damn damn brave from Lowes, fantastic effort, the lad gave more than everything.

The circuit, well i can't put into words how excited it makes me for 2021 trip over there, it's just looking absolutely brilliant.

Please, please, please get Portimao added to the official calendar next season. An incredible weekend. The thing that will be etched in my mind until the first round next year will be the bikes dropping down to the first corner, on their front wheels with the riders desperately trying to stop them swapping ends and how far forward they've got their weight to avoid the front wheel lifting too much as they take the other drop.
