Update. I'm impressed! Now I've set the cut height  and let it do its thing, it's doing a really good job. It cuts for a while, then goes back and charges itself, then goes back out. TBH, the only complaint now is it's being a bit free and easy with my electric! :D I think I have it on the 8 hours a day cycle and need to change that, but I CBA to read the manual. :D

A decent lawn should have stripes.

Need to train it better.

Can you set a boundary? Or does it just keep going until it can't go past a fence or something?

This one has sensors, so it stops if it comes up against something. The really cheap ones you have to put a boundary wire around the edges. The really expensive ones you can create maps using the app and gps and even zone them so you can just cut faster growing areas etc.

I like the idea for here as the owners mower is not a possibility for me!! But I wouldn't want to spend ridiculous money on one that I can set a boundary - and the cheaper one would probably disappear into the distance as there isn't a fence between the two properties, only a road!!

And the boundary wire could be an issue for mowing the other apartments' areas :( :(

You can get ones where the boundary wires are put in the ground solving that issue.

As I left to go to work this morning, I saw the robo mower heading out to do its job too. :D  I've a couple of wide cracks in the lawn that I need to fill, or it can get caught in them, but apart from that easily solved issue, its been brilliant! I strim the edges at the weekend, as it doesn't do them obvs, but that's all I do now. No marching up and down and emptying grass boxes and putting the big green garden waste bin out for the bin men anymore either! I think i'll even drop my garden waste subscription next year, so in effect, it'll pay for itself!

How does it collect and dump the cuttings?

It doesn't. Thats kinda the whole point. Its cuts daily so the clipping are small, and they just drop as mulch and actually feed the lawn.

A mate has one and swears by it but it seems like a pretty lazy automation unless you really hate outdoor activity. If you have a dog you’ll be scraping dog shit out of it at some point.

I have facet arthropathy and as much as I used to enjoy mowing my lawn, the pay off just isn't worth it, as i'll be fucked for the next few hours. You're right about the dog shit though!

If something is a chore that you dislike then automation is the way to go. If I had one, I drink plenty of tea just watching it, fascinating things. 👍

This isn't a criticism, but one thing i've noted is, with the current scorchio weather, we're getting a lot of dry and dead leaves dropping from the various trees and bushes. As this doesn't collect anything, I will have to hoover them up with the lawn mower. Apart from that its doing a stirling job of popping out each day for its 4 hour, random direction maintenance cut!
