In the past if I've needed to give the chain a good clean I'll use paraffin and it makes light work of it.

I was ever so slightly attracted to one as I was intrigued by the quikshifter thingy and other things, but yes, they seem to have too many niggles. Although I always say never again after owning a KTM as the bastard things never work for me, but then I go and buy another...

I use chain cleaner, then a stiff small brush to loosen off the crap and then baby wipes takes the whole soggy mess off ....... I never used to clean chains and just kept lobbing on more and more chain lube. Since i started actually taking care of the chain and cleaning them they last longer....go figure

I never used my bikes in winter. And as I got the rear tyre changed about every 500-700 miles, that's when I cadged a spray of lube from the support guys

Paraffin seemed to make the chain a bit nicer, but it'll take a few goes. Links seem less stuck now though which is nice.
I spent a long time cleaning some of the ming out from under the fairings. Jesus there was lots. It's still not that nice under there, but for a 14 year old bike I can live with it. No pictures, but was nice to see that the header pipes were in great condition with no marks on at all!
I fitted some engine cases so the paint flaking on the engine covers doesn't get any worse as well. Those look pretty good.
I got some acf50 all over the bike, and under the bits that live under the fairing as well. So pretty much all ready for a winter sat in the garage!
That said, I had to ride to work yesterday and it was raining coming home - turns out the headlight is next to useless, so I've ordered an Osram nightbreaker which the internet told me was good. The LEDs on the old 790 were really good it turns out!

I was also trying to find something to stop all the crap from the back wheel going straight on to the shock and in to the bottom of the fairing. My old 5vy R1 had something like that, but I think that was attached to the swingarm.
Maybe I should try and be inventive with some plastic and cable ties...

Nothing too exciting, but when I had the fairings off for cleaning, I'd noticed some oil weeping from what I think is the balancer shaft seal - the big black circle in the picture.
I had a quick read around, and causes are (unsurprisingly) that the seal is shot and needs replacing/fixing, or that the bike has too much oil in it... checked the oil, and the sight glass was completely full - so I figured I'd drop the oil and make sure the right amount was in there.
I emptied out just under 3.5 litres - Suzuki say you need 3l without filter change, and 3.3l with a new filter. I didn't change the filter. That's quite a bit of extra oil that the dealership put in. It was pretty black, and looked a lot older than the 400 miles I've done on the bike since I've had it...
With the nice fresh oil, which now nicely sits just under the max line in the sight glass, I went out for a little play, just 15 miles or so, and came back to find no more oil weeping which is pretty good news. Replacing the seal is an engine out job and probably would've seen the bike traded in.
Interestingly, I emailed the dealer twice about this, and now over a week later have yet to get a reply. I know phoning is easier, but I prefer to have a written record of stuff. Had the bike continued to weep (or if it starts again), I'll be on the phone and they can sort it.
As I was considering getting rid, I found a nice mt-09 on ebay - nice and orange, but with upgraded suspension and about 1700 miles. The trade in I was offered on the K6 was pretty tempting...I'm still pretty tempted tbh.

Thanks, I was planning on taking a look inside the airbox between xmas and new year just in case there's oil all over the place. I'll see if anything needs unblocking now as well.

Yep, that's what got my attention. I've never ridden one, but most reviews moan about the suspension. So figured these nice bits would have gone some way to fixing that! Probably won't happen though, I don't think I can get away with changing again so quickly. Unless the seal starts weeping again, I'd imagine the K6 is staying for a while (famous last words aren't they!).

What Weeksy says. I paid that for my MT09 back in July with a lot more miles and OEM suspension.

All you have to do is apply man math to any bike purchase
The handguards are challenging on the eye especially as there not fitted correctly
The rest looks fantastic.

Yeah, I don't really want to change it, I've wanted a K6 for a long time, so as long as it doesn't look like that seal needs replacing I'll be spending the summer on it at least.
The problems only come when you look at ebay and you see what you could get...
