Fair 'nuff. I'd also enquire about the availability (and cost) of replacement pistons and rings (and other engine parts) before going anywhere near one, though.

Tempted...

Last year I was thinking of building a 'home office' in the garden,it's a big garden & a a big shed / home office will fit in there no problem plus I reckon I'll get my money back if I ever move. There's only one problem,I'll fill it with more motorbikes.I've currently got 2 in the conservatory & 3 in the garage..

I've got 4 and an FZ750 race engine in the garage, an RD350 YPVS rolling chassis in bits in a shed and I can't remember what motorcycle bits are in the other shed, I should sell most of it and go down to a modern road bike and a single classic, then I'd have some room, I've turned into a motorcycle hoarder.

I think, if ever I started a bike collection it might be old military bikes from around the globe.

I wouldn't say no to an ES250...

It looks so bad, that it must be cool!

The Germans seem keen on CX500s too, colloquially known as a slurrypump. Custom variants seem the most common for sale.

That one's in Berlin, an easy detour on my way back to Blighty with an empty van.

Weiter, weiter, weiter!

Two spring to mind - mid 70s Suzuki two stroke twin - my first bike was GT 185 - but I’m sure it would be rose coloured specs.

Other one is a monkey bike.

I bought two GT185s for £60 in 1984 and made one running one out of them, it ran fine and did everything a GT185 is supposed to, but it was a bit shit, I replaced it with an X7 that cost £150, that was fast but didn't handle very well, the GT185 was neither fast or good handling.

I was 17 when I had mine, it never felt fast, the X7 was the first bike I had that felt fast, when I first got it, it was a bit "FECK ME, this thing is fast", bought a 250LC after that, which didn't feel as quick, but handled massively better.

This looks interesting.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/236600574586

Useable, but plenty of scope for 'restoration', it's got the 160 Monza Junior motor in it, but comes with the original lump.
