I like the look of it as standard - don't get that very often. Yes a tail tidy and an exhaust would be nice but they don't look terrible as they are.

I understand why they've gone v-twin for nostalgia reasons but you can't help thinking a parralell twin with a 270 crank would have been better from a build and maintenace cost POV. 160kg if you believe the specs, but that's probably dry weight.

MM have some nice bikes now, let's hope they get the UK importer situaltion sorted.

Yep, it's a cul-de-sac just off the TIlehurst road, and not far from where Elm Park was, when it was there- pic was taken outside my parents house approx 1978/79 - they moved into it in 1956, and my Mum is still there....

What's them 3 cars then ??? I'll go first.

Hehe, good game- agree with @Pirahna on the first two, going by the shape of the tail lights though, I reckon the one at the bottom on the left is a Hillman Avenger

On my pic, I can't see L shaped lights, my tablet probs. Didn't think the capri lights looked quite right either. Cars with great memories I reckon.

The new one is probably really some Hwa-Fong shit.

I rode (briefly ) a 3 1/2 strada ......I was absolutely taken with it... I would go for one now apart from the cost.....

Loved my (far from standard) 1974 3½ Strada, at least when the tranducers weren't causing misfiring, and the overjetted carbs were finally sorted. It revved like a bastard.
Once rode it down to the late Benjy Straws garage, and he knew of the bikes somewhat extensive history (like it had been raced at the IoM, and had later been run over by a bus). The bus incident explained the high level exhausts, the later 500 cast wheels and disc brake, Honda mudguards, and BMW speedo.

I sold it to someone who planned to restore it back to standard, but seeing DVLA show that it is untaxed and has no MOT, I doubt that (extremely expensive?) restoration has been completed.

I like the new one. A lot.

I've been trying to think of the name of the Morini guy in London. Benjy Straws, yes. For some reason my Dad knew his financial partner* (again - the name escapes me), and Benjy did the head bearings on my Guzzi when they were discovered to be so knackered the bike had self-centering steering (I hadn't noticed and had just ridden around the problem).

* They had the first Gilera Nordwest in the UK and matey took it to the Manx GP to show it off ('91? '92?), so the little group that my Dad and I were riding around with all had a go on it. Great little bike: handling was a bit odd because on the journey up the exhaust burnt through the side of the throw-over panniers and matey lost all his clothes, and his jeans fell down between the swing-arm and the tyre and wore the side of the tyre completely away! It had some weird Pirellis fitted that had a much wider working area than the rim, so the rubber stuck out of the sides of the wheel/tyre by about an inch or so. The jeans incident meant that the tyre on the right side simply wasn't there, making right handers rather fraught!

I seem to remember his business partner at Wee-Vee's was Phil (Smith?). I spoke with him a couple of times when Benjy wasn't there
