Are there any bikes you've owned in the past that you'd like to own again?

A fazer 1000
I broke my old one as the parts were worth more than the whole!
I'd treat this one with a bit more respect tho'

Just bought my 5th Morini 500 in 35+ years but that's more because I'm a sucker for punishment than them actually being any good, especially since this one is in its constituent parts - a real box of bits & not 100% complete for sure.

TL1000s 1997 unadulterated - only cos I'd still have mine if I hadn't killed it
I would love a Blackbird again but I suspect it wouldn't work with the new style shoulder
I may well get a 390 Duke cos DAYUM that was FUN

You're not alone....
I will admit to having a hankering for a decently sorted Matchless G80 like the one my Dad built up for a friend, and which I did a lot of club-riding and more than one trip to the Manx on. Very easy to ride, very tractable, and a lot quicker than anyone expected. Hopefully the JAPton will scratch that itch somewhat, but it would be nice to have a pillion capacity.

I doubt I'd be disapointed as I won't be setting my hopes high,if I get a 250LC again it would be more for pootling around on,just enjoying it for what it is,a 40 + year old motorbike that I had a lot of fun with back in the day.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: Thu Nov 13, 2025 2:07 pmYou'll be disappointed, they're not quick or exciting compared to modern bikes.Bustaspoke wrote: Thu Nov 13, 2025 1:34 pm Me & a couple of mates had this discussion last weekend,2 of us would have a 250LC again, the other one would love a TDR250.

Honda XL185S. Aprilia AF1 125. Honda XR250R.
I'm currently on my 5th Honda CBR600f but that's chance really.

The experience I would like to be able to relive would be the Kawasaki Z1. At the time it was exciting and the scars have healed but if I tried that now I wouldn't last five minutes. A front brake that didn't work in the rain, a frame that felt like it was hinged in the middle. Probably the fastest I ever went both on road and track and I tried to tune it to go even faster!

You don't buy a 40 year old bike and expect it to be as capable as a modern one. You buy it for the intangibles, like memories and associations and just remembering what it was like to be young and daft (rather than old and daft).Bustaspoke wrote: Thu Nov 13, 2025 9:38 pmI doubt I'd be disapointed as I won't be setting my hopes high,if I get a 250LC again it would be more for pootling around on,just enjoying it for what it is,a 40 + year old motorbike that I had a lot of fun with back in the day.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: Thu Nov 13, 2025 2:07 pmYou'll be disappointed, they're not quick or exciting compared to modern bikes.Bustaspoke wrote: Thu Nov 13, 2025 1:34 pm Me & a couple of mates had this discussion last weekend,2 of us would have a 250LC again, the other one would love a TDR250.

Having said that, it's always a bit of a culture shock whenever I ride the LC - no electric start and two stroke powerbands for a start.

And I'd also make the observation that if I hadn't owned the LC from new I very much doubt I'd be looking for one in today's overpriced market.

I was going to say I don't remember 250LCs being tootling about bikes, my memory is not much happening until about 6K and then it was all over by 9K, weirdly the race tuned one I owned had more top end and mid range than the standard one I had (it also handled a lot better, no idea why)mangocrazy wrote: Fri Nov 14, 2025 11:52 amYou don't buy a 40 year old bike and expect it to be as capable as a modern one. Whilst I absolutely agree with the "there's a reason they get sold" part of that statement...Pirahna wrote: Thu Nov 13, 2025 2:47 pm There are no bikes I'd like to own again, there's a reason they get sold.
When the reason is "because it will either cost me my license or my life" but it was the most fun you've ever had on two wheels... That doesn't stop me wanting another one!
Aprilia Tuono 1100 V4 Factory by the way... Absolutely incredible machine and I'd have another in a heartbeat! If it weren't for speed limits and the possibility of running out of talent on it on UK roads...

I'd happily have my FZ750 back

I'd have another ZZR600 not the same one though
If it has to be the same, that would be a Suzuki GT500 I gave away without riding ( needed rebuilding ).
Maybe my RD250 too but I bent that and can't remember what I did with it.

750 SRAD, felt like an RGV on steroids but was reliable and actually quite easy to live with.
I'd love another TDR but I suspect I'd be disappointed.
And I did like the Fazer thou I had earlier this year but the wife just took against it for some reason.

Just came across this pic. I put Ohlins on it and then traded it in for the cosmic yellow Street Triple. The day after the dealer got it it was on their website and the day after that, it was sold. If I'd have had a bigger garage I'd have kept it.
