Too much in all honesty....
Most nights at least a half to a bottle of red, Fri and Sat nights normally double that with the occasional short or cocktail thrown in for good measure.

Re: How much alcohol do you consume per week ?
I class a 500ml can of beer/lager 4.5% ish at about 2 units, the 6.5 %s about 3 units. 14 units is soon hit. Think it used to be 21 for men and 14 women, but with all the different varieties of the human race these days, they rounded it down to 14 for everyone.
My advice...do what you like doing. Ftw.

As a railwayman in a shit job with an even worse manager and married to a teacher it was VERY alcoholic for many years (way past 25 units a week) but when I took the control room job, wound it back a lot and this year have decreased it to probably 3-4 pints twice a week (and get a raging hang over).

Maybe four bottles of old mans style ale on a weekend.
Not sure how many units that is as its usually McEwans Champion so about 7.3 % but it can't be that many.
Meh.

I went to a CB Radio new years even party , maybe 20 to 30 of us there and a couple of "friends" were giving me pint glasses
full of spirits. Needlessly to say I felt quite ill after that and no Alcohol has passed my lips since.
That was about 35 years ago.

Not much to be honest. I enjoy a glass of single malt, but that only be once a month or three times in one week. Depends on the wife too. Really like a good glass of quality white wine, or a classic red. Have a bottle of good Calvados as well. Some excellent brandy and also palinka of dubious quality! Also partial to nice ale's, bitters and craft beers. But only have one glass/bottle.
All my drinking is very moderate, but I do enjoy it when I have it.
Proverbs 20:1 Wine is a mocker and beer is a brawler, he who is lead astray by them is not wise. Words I've taken to heart since my early twenties when I was downing many bottles of wine/beer/spirits in an evening. The moderation thing came in after reading that particular verse, and funnily enough, I read it at a Morning Prayer service in Cambridge at Ridley Hall Chapel this morning!! Timely reminder.

It all depends whose units you're using. Using a bottle of red as a unit, about 4-5 per week.
There is no cloud, just somebody else's computer.

Many biblical passages describe wine as a gift from God that gladdens the heart and blesses people, like in Psalm 104:15 and Amos 9:14, which speaks of drinking wine from one's own vineyard as a sign of blessing.the_priest wrote: Thu Sep 11, 2025 6:39 pm Not much to be honest. I reckon I'm less than 10 units a year. Just don't really enjoy drinking, certainly don't like getting drunk anymore. Did plenty though in my younger days, especially when I was playing rugby.

Re: How much alcohol do you consume per week ?
Jesus took the cup of wine, gave thanks and said, "this is my blood shed for you for the forgiveness of sins, do this as often as you drink it in remembrance of me". Every week I say those words, often many times, wine is very special to me. (I use non-alcoholic sacramental wine before you lot start on how much I drink!)Taipan wrote: Thu Sep 11, 2025 6:57 pmMany biblical passages describe wine as a gift from God that gladdens the heart and blesses people, like in Psalm 104:15 and Amos 9:14, which speaks of drinking wine from one's own vineyard as a sign of blessing.the_priest wrote: Thu Sep 11, 2025 6:39 pm Not much to be honest. Re: How much alcohol do you consume per week ?
So at the moment and for the foreseeable: nothing.
I’m 51 (just) and my drinking history looks something like:
20s: binge out on the town probably twice a week.
30s: drinking more at home. Small kids. Consumption went up. Managed 3 bottles+ every single night and more at the weekends. Functioning alcoholic I think they call that. Developed gout early 30s. Too much booze.
40s: developed more of an interest in ale. Maybe going out twice a week but only having 3 or 4 pints. Still drank at home. Usually bourbon.
50s: stopped drinking at home. Developed a love for sour beer. Now only drink when out and that’s maybe once a week. Still have a drinks globe and still occasionally raise a glass, but it’s rare.
From where I’ve come from- I’m closer to not drinking than drinking. Units are utterly meaningless, but I’m under the weekly recommendation.

None. Ever since having COVID it gives me a raging headache in the back of my head / neck
To be honest I don't miss it, there are pretty good 0.5% beers now ( variable definition of none there )

I too have shifted to the low/zero alcohol drinks of late. This is my current 0% tipple...

Mmmm that sounds nice

I understand I have to pay tax on 0.5% because there is some alcohol in there but why is the stuff that's totally alcohol free like Becks Blue and Budweiser just as expensive as the alcoholic beer? I understand they can make beer without alcohol now so it's not because it was there and they removed it. Seems a bit of a swizz

Re: How much alcohol do you consume per week ?
I kinda bought it by mistake! But one hot sunny afternoon I fancied a long drink, with ice and a slice, so poured one of these with a fever tree tonic and slices of lemon and lime and it looked lovely, but I absolutely hated it!Ian wrote: Thu Sep 11, 2025 9:54 pm Mmmm that sounds nice
