There was someone else too. I said the other day that one thing having an electric car has taught me is that I dont want an electric bike and he said the for him it was the opposite. I mean to ask him for more details but cant find the post now.
Wouldn't be my preference, but if I can get the landlord to agree to let me use the underground bicycle parking (it ain't a car park, as to keep the building's AA rating no dinosaur-powered vehicles are allowed in) then it's a practical solution to my commuting problem*. Email has been sent and I'll await a positive response before I even start researching which one, insurance, etc.

Can't be good for your medical condition, I imagine it increases your blood pressure quite a lot. I'd say your employer has a duty of care.....

Who's got a 'leccy bike or got experience of them? In theory I could sell the mighty Triumph and get a second-hand 'leccy to see me through for a year or two 'til retirement.

The below list seems a reasonable barometer of cost and availability.

Thoughts? Preference of make? I have sod all knowledge.
I think @McSatan is the only person on here with an electric bike?

Yeah it's McSatan who had/has a Zero. He took it for a test ride while his other bike was getting serviced and immediately bought it, he liked it so much.

The one thing I'd say is common to all EV stories is - people are surprised! Good or bad, it's generally not what people expect. So give it a whirl, what's to lose? Assuming you can get a test ride.

Desmodromic has a Live Wire.

£7k for a Zero feels pretty bargainy :D If you're going to do a fixed distance commute and don't have to worry about range...

That's what I want from a bike too, hence my comment. But, I have no doubt the Zero is an an excellent motorbike , quick as fook, very economical etc.

Do I sell or keep?

The 'Sell' arguments are strong:

- Sell it and bank the money.

- Make room in the garage.

- The 'Nothing is forever' argument. Can get something else at a later date.

- I don't get time to ride it for pleasure, nor for trips, if I'm honest.

The 'Keep' arguments are less convincing:

- I fucking love it.

I'm in a quandry.
Make time, you have weekends off. From where you are half of France and all of Holland/Belgium/Luxembourg is available for a weekend. And Wales, the Peak District and the Lakes.

I love my LiveWire One. To answer Taipans question. Its all about the power delivery. I just love the way an electric motor gives the torque and power, instant and goes on and on. I also love the look of the bike. But its like everything, some like it some don't. Admittedly I have taken a very large punt with this, but I'm willing to take the risk for a motorcycle I have wanted to own since they came out. I looked at the Zero but preferred the LiveWire for its looks.

At the minute LiveWire are having huge discounts, mostly because they are not selling :wtf: but its worth a test ride just to see the attraction.

Any questions I can answer about it, more than willing to help. But to say it again, it brings more smiles to me than any other bike I have owned and like most motorcyclists there have been many of them.

If you have the cash have a look at https://www.vergemotorcycles.com/store/verge-london/

I've followed Marc Travels on YouTube he's travelling around Europe on one. He did the NC 500 in just over a day

If they go for the leccy bike thing Gremmers, then just put a bit of green sticky back plastic on the Trumpet numberplate, everyone will assume it's electric.

I saw someone riding a livewire a week or two back in Gloucester, it's the first time I've seen one on the road and it looked pretty damned good.
I've been wanting a leccy bike for ages but I'm not quite brave enough to pull the trigger on a DSR/X

What banking offices in that lunnon don't have secure parking????
The ones that want to be net-zero by 2040 and rent new office space with a AA green rating,
You're currently based at Canary Wharf IIRC - are you moving to a different building there or to a whole new location? The bike parking at CW is a bit of a rip off at £3.80 per day.

@Rockburner You'd be surprised. Even if the building has parking generally you need to get on the good side of the Building Manager - some are helpful, some much less so.

Was in Wapping, moved to Basinghall Street, near Guildhall and the building has just been refurbished, all green, fart-powered lighting, that sort of thing. ICE vehicles are a no-no. Not sure about leccy cars, as I ain't got one. Plenty of bicycle racks for the yogurt weavers, but I'm waiting to hear back re an electric motorbike. That might just blow their minds.
I'm on good terms with the facilities manager, but at the moment his todo list is pretty extensive, so I'll leave it til the place is more a functional office and less a site.

Ps. Email just sent to Rosner's to get a bid on the Trumpet.

Edit: I knew a main dealer would be a bit cheeky, but £6k?

Get one of them leccy push bikes that do 50 wear a facemask and a zombie knife. The kids round here go like the clappers on them. They seem to have lots of fun and the sirens are always 2 or 3 minutes behind them.

I was in a similarish boat, in that I had a SuperDuke GT bought for commuting that I no longer do.

So I sold that and bought a Street Triple, the logic being that I was more likely to jump on something small and nimble for popping into town or just going for a ride for no reason that I would the big bike. Plus the odd trackday.

It's working well so far, and has the added bonus of justifying a whole new outfit! Brown leather ankle boots, new Kevlar jeans, lightweight casual-style jacket.

New/different bikes FTW!
