The wife is on Ramipril, cos she had a PE, no side effects.

I'm on Ramipril 5mg a day
BP averages 135/85.

Doc is happy with that.

I'm not on any pills and I don't know what my blood pressure is. Nor do I know my cholesterol level, is that even still a thing?

The cough thing is a sod though, not permeant but a really tickly scratchy cough that can't be shifted or treated when it does hit, and a good session will have you border line retching

Yep and yep.

High BP is known as 'the silent killer' as you can have sky-high BP and not know. Puts a lot of strain on the jam tart and can put you in a box early doors. Ditto high cholesterol.
Simple test for both, so get 'em checked.

I've been on 12.5 mg of Zofenopril since 2015 when I went to see the local cardiologist and told him I thought my BP was high. I'd been on 2.5 mg of Ramipril a day prior to that and since the 2007 triple by-pass op.

It seems to work well and I get no side effects. Coped well with climbing the odd hill and trekking in Nepal and I rarely check my BP nowadays.

It's only one of a cocktail of drugs I take daily for my heart though; 80 mg aspirin, 2.5 mg Bisoprolol, 2 x 150 mg Propafenon morning and evening to regulate my heart rythmn (I went for about 4 or 5 years with my heart seemingly missing the odd beat although sometimes it was missing a beat every two or three beats for a couple of hours or more) and 5 mg Warfarin ( the combination of a fluttery valve, old blood and an irregular heart beat gave a high risk of a stroke apparently so blood thinners needed).

But physically I'm OK and with a new hip joint I'm looking forward to the cooler weather and maybe doing a couple of hills.

Nope. None of my grandparents died young, my father died at 80ish of MS and Dear Sainted Mother is 90 and still going. MY BP wasn't high last time it was checked a few years ago, I had a hernia repaired

Going to the doctor's makes you ill. Take this pill for that, and this one for the side effects it causes. And this one for the side effects of that one. Ad nauseum.

5mg Amlodipine. My blood pressure hovers around 120/75. There are no side effects I can pinpoint but I take other medicines as well for the after effects of vasculitis and I'm an old git so I don't know if I have side effects of medication or just side effects of getting old.

It's bolleaux. Just had a dab around.

On average they may live 5 years less (research results vary)

They also have their very own TLA. They now have IAD, Illness Anxiety Disorder. One of the reasons for the difference is suicide....which, given their worries about illness, seems counterintuitive. But it's often linked to depression and, not surprisingly, stress.

So cheb has the right idea and will probably make 120.
