I reckon he needs a 6R4, not sure if he'll get a road legal one in budget.
Edit:
Oh yeah, there's no rear seats, someone put the engine there!

GTRs are bloody massive! They look fairly 2 door sports car small in photos, but when you see 'em in real life they're huge.
There's one running around here, but badged as as Altima....

Fiat 500. IIRC they come with twin or triple engines (and a 4-pot).
Just remember that they're built in the former Yugo factory at Zastava... by the same workforce...

BMW 135i
I have one, it's small ish without being a bean can, comes with two or four doors and a lovely flat six engine.
Hot hatch / RWD proper drivers car / practical family car all in one. I bought one on a whim a few years ago not expecting to keep it (I need an estate car really) but it grew on me so I had it lightly breathed on and it's absolutely stonking.. when I picked up my bike I couldn't keep up with it with the Mrs driving it

Have you done an engine transplant from a Porsche then?

They're built in Poland where Fiat have been building since 1992.

I was going to suggest keeping an eye on the Operation Bumblebee sales website for a bit of exotica

....but the website is defunct, it is no more.

No, they have a 3 litre straight six with a twin scroll turbo (or proper twin turbo if you get one pre 2012).

You said 'flat' six, which most people think of as a six pot boxer engine, not a 'straight' six :p

Of course I realised that after I replied, it doesn't take many brain cells to work out I meant straight six though (but the mention of Porsche in the OP must have dug in to my subconscious).

When the OP says small, how small is small?
This isn't an SUV!

I’ve come to the conclusion I either need to buy old or embrace electric.
Rivian R3 might be worth waiting for.
Or… life is short and if I can work out a car porch or safe storage option I might get a Mk.1

All the coolest people have leccy cars.
Is it just me, or does the R3 look like a space age Lada Niva?

Or…. Polestar 2.
But. The interior of all electric cars is utter wank. Total shit. I want to have buttons and feel cocooned not like I’m in an Apple Store.

In reviews of my i4 they often state how much like a normal car it is compared to other EVs. The heater controls are still touch screen, but then there were in my ICE Volvo too.
The M50 is jolly quick, have a test drive for a laugh.

It's not an electric car thing, it's a new car thing.
My latest car has buttons, my last two were screens. I actually prefer the screens!

Was parked up behind a Lotus Eletre this morning. It had an arse like a baboon but looked OK from there forwards.
Starting price £86k but I doubt many are sold at that spec. The R version goes up to about £140k and is quickish for such a hulking thing.
Made in Wuhan - which was a bit of a surprise.
Haven't ordered one.
