Cyclists in the City of London have been caught 10 times more often than motorists for running red lights this year.

Since the start of 2025, 284 cyclists in the City of London have been fined for failing to stop at lights, but only 25 motorists were ticketed for the same offence.

City and Met do these stop people every so often. They only stop cyclists, not any other vehicle.

Like the met used to decide that motorbikes speeding while filtering was a thing and put cops with speed guns up, the euston underpass being a favourite as I remeber from VD days, during rush hour.

Don't forget an amount to cover increased premiums due to the other drivers incompetance.

PS As a bus owner, you do feel hitting something. Did you ask if the comapny passed on the details of the driver to the police for failing to stop. Also as there is CCTV on board all busses. Has the video been watched, to prove that the driver didn't have any knowledge

I FUCKING HATE London bus drivers (they are the ones I interact with the most), they are (mostly) utter cockwombles. Rarely anything happens when submitting videos of being cut up by speeding busses while on the scotay.

Well today I get home from work to discover I've got a £35 fine for driving in a "Bus Gate" in Southampton last week, I didn't even know a Bus Gate was a thing, turns out it's a very short bus lane, why not just write "Buses Only" in the fucking road, then everyone would know what it meant, cunts.

Challenge it, and if you can more than once. You'll still have to pay but they'll make less of a profit on it.

Where in Southampton was it? For no better reason that I used to live there.

I got done by one in Bristol leaving the SS Great Britain, it was on the BBC as having given out 500k in fines in the first 2 or 3 months of operation. Nothing but a money raising scam. The one I was caught by was within about 10 meters of turning left out of the SS GB, there was nothing to say you couldn't turn left out of that junction. There was a bus lane sign but it said I was outside the hours of its operation, Google maps said turn left, sign said bus lane not in operation so I went left. Almost immediately I'm passing some blue signs that say 'Bus gate' a term I've never heard of before and assumed was part of the non operating bus lane. But nope, just a £35 fine. In the BBC article Bristol Council said there were signs on the approach, but not if you've just left one of it's tourist attractions where there is no warning at all about it. There should of been something at the junction to say no left turn except buses/taxis but that way they can't fine you. I emailed a complaint and got a 'We'll take your comments on board". Kunts.

I'd never heard of or seen a Bus Gate until this thread. I suppose even now I haven't seen one.

There's one on a one way street in Nottingham so you have no chance th turn back. I've not seen it first hand thankfully but it really does stink of a nice little earner

I can't be arsed to challenge it for £35, I get paid that an hour.
Castle Way, between the Travelodge and the Bus Station, I saw where it saw Bus Gate on the road and thought what does that mean and looked round for signs saying it was a bus lane or something as I was pretty much driving through the end of the bus station.
