Re: Brutale 800rr
Loudness is fine for me with earplugs, it's not fine for everyone else, plod etc..Harry wrote: Tue Sep 29, 2020 1:39 pm Can't you wear earplugs?
I feel like I'm being a dick here, but didn't you do this with the Ducati. You liked it, then you didn't, then you did but you wanted to change it around a bit, then you sold it.
Put some earplugs in and enjoy it.
Ducati was definitely different.

Yeah, it's my first stop.
IIRC you had the S1 on your rc so you know what I mean about the loudness!

Re: Brutale 800rr
Standard can I reckon. Esp if you are in a do I/don't I love biking stage.
Although aside from all the bolt on bollocks, that is a very saucy looking bike indeed.

I'll swap the S1 back to the std and see what I think.Supermofo wrote: Tue Sep 29, 2020 3:36 pm Standard can I reckon. Esp if you are in a do I/don't I love biking stage.

If you don't like it, I'll do you a favour and take it off your hands, just to keep it running and that. You could sort me out some beers for looking after it for you

Re: Brutale 800rr
Yep me too

I was looking at the sc, I could probably drill the rivets out and get a baffle fitted, the carbon cap would need to be re-riveted soo it would never be a 'removable' baffle as such... dunno if I can really be arsed, it is a beautiful thing though.

OEM pipes look damn good. Whats the sound like?
What about GPR systems? The one on my F8R has a double baffle option, one at each end of the can! So I guess you can vary the output sound?

Re: Brutale 800rr
I get you. Like with my XSR, something in the middle would be fab. But given the choices, I'd go standard

On the video it actually sounds quite muted as there is no reference point.weeksy wrote: Tue Sep 29, 2020 10:35 pm I get you. Like with my XSR, something in the middle would be fab. But given the choices, I'd go standard

Re: Brutale 800rr
Check to see if they do the front and rear baffle options. Sounds odd I know but one baffle goes in between the connecting pipe and back of the can and then you have the normal one in the end of the can. Might give you some sound options?

The one I linked to mentions ‘double’ baffle.Taipan wrote: Tue Sep 29, 2020 11:44 pm Check to see if they do the front and rear baffle options. Sounds odd I know but one baffle goes in between the connecting pipe and back of the can and then you have the normal one in the end of the can.

It’s a good idea and I can see how it would give varied sound signatures.

I always wear earplugs, every trip.Harry wrote: Wed Sep 30, 2020 4:16 amIt was loud but it never bothered me when I was riding.Claude wrote: Tue Sep 29, 2020 3:31 pm

If I was going any distance I put earplugs in.
I don't know about noise laws in the UK, I always made sure I was legal, I never really understood the deliberate flouting of laws because the plod spend a ridiculous amount of time ignoring harder to catch criminals and looking for motorists deliberately flouting laws, so it was just too much hassle.
I'd probably stick with standard if it's legal, in my experience the guys I rode with all had various different aftermarket exhausts on their Dragsters and Brutales and in straight line drag races we were all neck and neck. I raced my mate multiple times on a perfectly straight desert road, him on his bog standard Brutale and me on my RC with race ignition and pipe - not a jot of difference.
They probably just change the power curve so it's better on a track, but they don't make them any faster in a straight line.
Noise seems to be a ‘hot topic’ at the moment, our village (Prestbury) is fairly ‘well to do’, there’s been numbers posts on the Facebook group from plod regarding ‘antisocial use of vehicles’ etc.
Anyway, std can is back on now.
