Buy it, ride it. If you like it then work out what to do next.
(I'm guessing you probably wouldn't lose money if you turned it around quickly. It's just the faff of selling - and I bet one of those chaps you meet up with would be tempted anyway).

1974? Nah, I'll pass, unless it's something with a specific use case your other bikes don't fulfill that you will get regular use from. It's a pian in the arse taxing and insuring 2 bikes and if I SORN 1 it just gets pushed further back into the shed where it will start rotting and need a massive amount of work to get it roadworthy when in 2 years time I decide to get it out again.
I did the N+1 thing with bicycles, now I'm left with half a dozen unsellable, unfashionable space thieves.

Re: What would you do?
I bought a second Laverda ater having regretted flogging the first one, the second wasnt quite as good so I spent a pretty penny at laverda scotzia trying to make it better it did the trick, engine wise, the down side was I didnt ride it as much as the ZZR AND it was a RH gearchange, in the interveening decades I had lost the total ability to be swapping gear change sides without a thought. This annoyed me and I have sold it and bought a posh E MTB which I use all the time. bit of the, never meet your hereos again?, or buy one! It did look the bollocks though.

Try them once and see if they are as good as you remember. If not get shot.
(This may not apply to jobs)
